Chapter Sixteen

October 24, 2014

Weeks have gone by since the accident. It had been trying, and the two were getting no where. Bey was busier than ever to the point where feeling sad around Shawn was the last thing on her mind. They hadn't spoken to one another all week due to the fact that she had been attending to work, her club, Natalia, and this party that was happening later on tonight. Shawn has texted and called numerous times, but by the time she finally winded down to reply, she deemed it too late.

Since it was a small little gathering, Kim figured it could be a dinner styled thing. Tina and Mathew were in town for the occasion, but they weren't spending time with Bey. They'd never been to New York, and wanted to spend as much time sight seeing. The problem? Bey now had a text message thread full of pictures that the couple couldn't seem to stop taking. That's what happens when old people get new devices.

Bey ran her fingers through her hair as she looked at herself in the mirror. She needed to be around Kim and Solange. Kim had turned out to be the best friend she'd ever had. Her talks with her about Shawn were always judgement free. Hearing that he was spending more time with Ashlyn warmed Bey's heart. That's where he needed to be.

She bit down on her bottom lip and looked at her outfit.

"Pwetty!" Natalia said as she crawled over to lean on Bey's back.

"You like it?" Bey asked as she tilted her head and looked into the mirror. This was a big test for her. She was allowed to have Natalia since she got her from work. She had to watch her, prepare her, and get her safely to Kim's house for the adoption shower.

Natalia nodded her head and played in Bey's hair. "Are you ready to look pretty too?" Bey asked with a warm smile.

Natalia's eyes lit up. She loved playing dress up. Bey had already given her a bath, so she just needed to get her dressed. Thankfully, Tally was good when it came to wearing clothes. She didn't like getting herself dirty, which Bey loved. She put her on a long sleeve black and white peplum shirt with black leggings. Bey put her shoes on and put her hair into a ponytail.

"You kinda look like me," Bey teased as she picked her up and stood in the mirror. Bey was wearing a black knee length lace insert dress by Carolina Herrera. It was one of the many dresses that Shawn bought her, but she never wore it. She wore a pair of black point toe pumps.

"Wanna take a picture?" Bey asked as she grabbed her iPhone from the bed. She was thankful that Natalia hadn't locked her phone, yet.

As Bey held her phone up, she watched as Natalia gave her best duck lips, causing Bey to laugh. "Is that really how you gone take this picture?"

Natalia nodded before removing the phone from her hand. Bey showed her how to take the picture and kissed her cheek just as she pressed the button. Bey sat her down and grabbed her purse.

"You ready to go?" She asked her.

"Yes!" Tally exclaimed as she left out the bedroom with the phone in her hand. Bey didn't mind her carrying it. The girls left the house. Bey buckled Natalia into her car seat. Bey made sure that she was strapped in perfectly before driving off and to Kim and Kanye's house. It was almost six o'clock, which was when the party started.

Bey arrived to the beautiful adobe. She had been to Kim's house before, and it never ceased to amaze her. It was breathtaking and spacious. She saw the cars in the driveway, and pulled in. She recognized a few of them, and couldn't help but smile. She helped Natalia out of the car and held her hand. It would be everyone's first time meeting her.
