Hiding in plain sight

Kevin's POV -

She was glowing still. Even after having her for a week she still had a natural glow. I sat in my chair across from her watching her sleep peacefully or she looked peaceful considering she was tied to a pole in my house basement. I kicked her leg a few times before she suddenly popped up and yawned. Her eyes were still closed when she tried to move her hands after failing and realizing she couldn't they snapped open and she panicked. When I first got her I locked her in a room upstairs and let her roam then after the fourth day I waited until she fell asleep and I drugged her so I could move her down to the basement for a brief period of time.

"Oh my god, what the hell?" She said before finally looking up and right into my eyes. "hey gorgeous" I smiled and she instantly began to cry long and hard.

I laughed "don't cry now Beautiful. You knew I'd get you back eventually so why put on a show?" I spoke calmly with a smirk. She slowly wiped her tears and said "Where are my babies?" She sniffled out lowly.

"Our boys are in good hands." I reassured her but before I could continue Candice stormed through the door. "Babe De'ara and I can't put one of the boys to sleep. He just keeps crying" she said angrily.

Layla gasphed loudly then spoke in utter surprise "Candice?" Candice looked her way then glared toward me "you didn't tell me she was awake darling" she spoke tight lipped. I shrugged and she nodded " Bye Marcus. You knew she knows me" she said angrily before walking out the door and slamming it behind her.

As much as I wanted to run after her and yank her yaki weave out her scalp I decided against it because I had more to talk to Layla about.  "So you see I finally finished the basement" I said trying to make light conversation. She glared at me as she continued sobbing lowly.  I tried again "you know Candice and I aren't really together she just helped me get you. You know because she's dating my cousins Bestfriend and I'm with Candice's cousin" I chuckled at the irony. "It's all a mess to be honest" I said with a light smile. "But I really just want you and my sons." I finished.

She continued to cry and ignore my attempts to forgive her. She was always so ungreatful. I got up and backhanded her "You know I though that maybe just maybe you'd be a little less inconsiderate when you came back considering I let you stay away that long and I'm still being nice to you. But obviously I was wrong." I yelled angrily but she just continued to cry louder as she held her cheek, Just like before.

"Stop crying Layla." I glared at her. "Layla if you don't stop crying I will drag you up the stairs by your hair and let Candice and De'ara jump you while the twins watch." I said bitterly. She instantly shut up and sat quietly. I nodded "alright baby smart move. Now let's talk about what we need to do next with our family." I said talking a seat in my chair once again.

"So this is what's next..."

Marcus POV -

I walked into the house carrying a sleepy Mari on my shoulder. First thing off was my front door being unlocked. Layla knew better so I wasted little time walking over to the hallway table and pulling out my 'House pistol'. Pushing Mari higher on my shoulder I started up the stairs slowly and quietly incase they just came in. Next thing I noticed was the twins door being shut completely. We never shut it completely in case the batteries on the monitors died at any point of time.

I walked toward their door and threw the door open while also swiftly pointing my gun straight ahead of me. Nothing but two empty cribs. I didn't even bother looking through the rest of the house just put the gun back into it's place and walked into my room to lay Mari down. As soon as I laid her down I pulled out my phone and called my mom to tell her Mari would be staying over their for a few days and giving her a brief run through of what I figured happened.

Mama sighed "That boy Kevin has always been a little off to me and everyone else.  His momma was just to foolish to acknowledge it." She said.

I nodded in agreement "alright well I'm on my way now with baby girl, just wait up for me." We said our goodbyes then hung up. I got Mari her favorite doll baby and a pair of pajamas as then strapped her into the car and sat all her things on the backseat all while trying not to spaz about the fact that Kevin has my family and has officially lost his whole mind.
