Riley was an annoying eighteen year old. It was his Senior year and things couldn't have gotten any better. He was star player in his school's basketball team. The WoodCrest Cougars of WoodCrest, California. They were undefeated all the way up to CIF Championship game and suffered a heart wrenching loss. Lost by a missed three pointer by Riley. Of course it wasn't his fault they lost. He just failed to tie the game for Overtime.
"Riley. You know it wasn't yo fault right?" Cindy asked, leaning on her chair. Riley held his basketball close to his chest as he looked at his popcorn ceiling.
Laying down on his messy bed.
"I could've won that muthafuckin game." He growled. Pressing the dense rubber ball on both its sides in anger. Cindy sighed as she rolled in his rolling chair.
"I give up! I tried to cheer ya ass up but it's no use! You jus a fuckin pussy!" Cindy screeched.
"Shut the fuck up! No one was fucking talking to you in the first place." Riley growled sitting up.
Cindy was Riley's friend from Elementary School. She was his Ride or Die, but they seemed to be slowly drifting away from each other. They have been fighting more frequently and ever since Cindy got that new boyfriend of hers, they haven't been hanging out as much as they used to.
"Then who you talkin to? The muthafuckin wall?!" Cindy asked irritated.
"Just...get out." Riley growled squeezing the basketball in his large hands.
"No." She sat. Folding her arms across her chest. Riley glared at her.
"If you don't get yo ass out my face in two point five seconds-"
"You'll do what Riley?! Hit me? I wanna see you try. Punk ass bitch!" Cindy meddled, standing up from her chair. Riley stood up as well getting close to her white round face. Staring angrily into her wide blue eyes. They stared at each other for a couple seconds. Their anger quickly turned into sorrow and Cindy's eyes began to well with tears.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" She whispered. Riley knew she was upset. To be quite honest, he didn't know why he was always so angry with her. It was hurting him too.
"Just...leave Cindy. Please." He begged, sending Cindy to grab her things from his desk. Quickly stomping to the door.
"I remember a time when you used to call me Murph..." She sniffled as she slammed his bedroom door behind her.
Riley pressed his lips together chucking the basketball at his bedroom wall. Causing it to bounce off swiftly. Hitting him in the head.
"Agh! Fuck!" He cried rubbing his sore spot.
"What time do you want me to pick you up?" Jason asked Cindy who still look dazed.
"Cindy?"
"Hm?" She asked snapping out her trance.
"Oh. Sorry. Nothing. Uhm. I'll call you okay?" She told her boyfriend as she got out the car. Closing it gently.
"Are you alright?" He called after her.
Cindy sucked in her tears as she ignored him. No. She was not alright.
As she entered her home her cell phone immediately rang.
Ring Ring Ring Ring
She groaned at the caller ID
"Nigga what?!" She snapped as she answered. Walking. Upstairs to her room.
