It was dark.
The smell that was invading the atmosphere was pure. Jade probably. It was as if Jazmine was following the scent out to consciousness. And when she came to, she found herself staring up at a ceiling made of bamboo. Slowly, she sat up. Now beholding a masterpiece of a small bamboo hut. She rolled her eyes down to see even the bed she laid on was made of bamboo cuts and sheets of sewn free cotton. The light from the morning sun was peeking through the large hole in the bamboo hut. Suddenly alarming her.
It was dawn!
Caesar...
She swung her feet off the bed and that is when she noticed. Her slippers were gone. Only her small yellow feet were visible. Then she looked on her body.
Where was her ninja clothes?
Her arms was wrapped in a white cloth. While her body was covered in a cotton garment.
Who undressed her?
She shook disturbing thoughts out of her head and crouched out the little safe haven, finding her sight drenched with walls and walls of endless bamboo.
She was trapped.
All she could see was the light above her and the little bit of clouds that were trolling by. She let out a sigh and placed her hands over her curly mane in distress. Sure she could run...but what good would that do?
Whoever had took her removed her ninja clothes and stolen her sack of food. If she would run now...she would surely die out there in the vast land.
"Hello? Anyone..." Her strong voice carried. Echoing throughout the bamboo.
Who took her...
"I am the daughter of the Great Thomas of clan Dautlin! You are wrong to imprison me! Someone will find me and I guarantee this will not end well for you-"
"Stop your yelling."
Jazmine pivoted to her left and stood her guard. Her feet planted firmly onto the ground and her arms up. Then...that is when she saw a man of brown color and large hair, with scruff on the sides of his jaw scowl at her. His hands holding a wooden cup of some sort of beverage that seethed with steam. Jazmine's eyes twinkled with curiosity. Not completely, but just slightly she lowered her guard. His eyes were mesmerizing. Maroon of depth and wine. Though it was the mystery behind his expression that dazzled her. Her heart almost skipping a beat at the sight of him coming closer.
She had not realized it, but she was staring intensely at him. His footsteps were approaching and she could not peel her green eyes off of him. "If I am not mistaken, you appear to either recognize me from another life or you are smitten..Jazmine of Dautlin." the man said in his deep voice. Making Jazmine spine explode with possibilities. The man touched her arms and lowered them down. Placing them by her side.
That is when Jazmine finally snapped out of her trance. She allowed him to move her hands to her side, though she gripped her fists and meet his eyes once again. "What do you want with me?" she gritted, her teeth clenched with annoyance.
The man continued to sip whatever he had in his homemade cup and turned to face his hut. That's when Jazmine eyed his appearance. This man was built. He had no shirt and wore loose fitted cotton pants. He bore no shoes under his feet and a sheath was worn around his waist. His skin was glistening with melanin...making Jazmine feel uncomfortable.
"It is not what I want from you Jazmine, but what I need of your partner." The man mentioned as he sipped the rest of what was in his cup. Jazmine rose her eyebrow. "And what would you want of my....oh gods...you are him!" She exclaimed, and reached into the man's sheath, pulling out his large sword. It was a bit heavy, but she managed and drew his own blade to his neck.
The man did not flinch. He still held his cup to his lips.
"Put...the cup...down..." Jazmine warned, switching the blunt side of the sword to the sharp side. Pressing it slightly against his neck. Her attempt of a threat. Slowly, the man put his cup down at a log that was already beside him. Jazmine was nervous. This was a dangerous man...a powerful one.
The man turned to face her and held his hands slightly up.
"Now...what-" She began, but she was interrupted by the man twisting the sword out her hand easily with moving only his arms. Not even moving the position of his body. Jazmine grunted and fell to her knees beside him. The man twirled the sword and placed it back in his sheath. Then grabbed his cup once again. Sipping whatever was in it.
"I want your partner to stop searching for me. I do not wish to kill him. Unlike he." The man stated as he walked into his bamboo hut. Jazmine huffed as she picked herself up from the dirt. The man returned with another cup. It's content also steaming.
His large hand offered it to Jazmine and she looked up at him with a stern face. "Would you like some?" The man offered. His blank face not changing it's fixed state.
Jazmine sneered, "Caesar does not wish to kill you. It is my father who wishes death upon his blade."
The man rose his eyebrow. "Good. Well. Then your role suffices much more so in my ransom. You in exchange for my freedom."
Jazmine chuckled with malice, "You truly believe that my father would do such a trade?"
"If he is willing to save his one and only child, I believe so."
Jazmine gasped, "You wouldn't dare to lay a hand on me-"
Again she was interrupted by the man doing a simple leg sweep. Knocking her on her back. He instantly drew out his sword and placed it soundly on her neck. Her green eyes bulged as she strained her neck.
Though she wasn't going down without a fight. She swung her arm in attempt to snatch his blade. But he pressed down on her arm with his foot swiftly. Pinning her down.
"Let me go!" She screeched.
"I will not harm you, while the ransom progresses. Though if things do not go accordingly, do not think for a moment that I will not end your life....Jazmine of Dautlin." He lowly breathed. His stature was so poised...calm and collected.
Jazmine had a tear of anger run down the wings of her eyes. "Fine...let me up."
The man removes his foot from her arm and also the blade. With a groan, Jazmine helps herself up. Her face strained with anger.
Huey shook his head, "You seem angry-"
"YES I'm angry! I do not enjoy being held in captivity!"
The man responded with a tight scowl. Unchanging. His arms folded across his chest.
Jazmine took a deep breath and slid her hands down her face.
"Now...what do I call you? People in the clans call you The Samurai, though no one knows your real name-" Jazmine lowly said, fixing her hair a bit.
The man returned his blade back in its warm home around his waist. "Huey." Is all he said before he went inside his bamboo hut.
Jazmine rose her eyebrows. "Huey?" She reiterated. Surprised at the name. It was such a simple yet idealistic name. It rolled off her tongue lovingly.
"Yes. Now...would you like something to drink?" Huey asked. Handing her a wooden cup. Steam brewing viciously within it.
With reluctance she accepted and sipped from her cup. Warm sensations tickling her tongue.
