Coffee would probably be the worst thing for most people to have at a time like this, but coffee had never really had that effect on me or Zero.
It didn't hype us up. On the contrary, it actually calmed me down.
"French Vanilla Cappucino with infinite sugar and creamer, as usual." Zero said, trying to lighten the mood as she got in the car and handed me my cup with a little grin.
It worked because I stuck my tongue out at her as I began to stir it because I knew good and well that all the sugar hadn't dissolved yet.
"Whatever, my coffee can beat your coffee's ass."
"Big talk from a girl who can't even stir it."
I rolled my eyes, ready to fire off a sarcastic comment as I unlocked my phone only to have it instantly die on my tongue.
I'd momentarily forgotten about the situation at the restaurant so to open my phone and see a million missed calls and texts is a bit shocking.
All of them were the same asking if we're ok and saying there's nothing to be afraid of.
Except for Rose who apparently got fed up with our shit and texted that she knew we were at Hyuna's house and she was bringing our soulmates there and we were going to talk to them whether wer liked it or not or else Ohio State would have two less students than planned this semester.
I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that (partially to keep from crying).
I didn't know why I was so scared of getting rejected and why it was the only thing I associated with my soulmate but it was and I was terrified.
Zero's right though. We have to talk to them sometime. And if I'm getting rejected, might as well get it over with.
When we pulled up to Hyuna's house, sure enough Rose was standing angrily on the porch, tapping her foot impatiently with two nervous looking boys at her side and basically a whole crowd of our worried-looking friends behind them. My necklace was glowing bright and I almost winced from the heat it was emitting.
But when I got out of the car and I actually looked at the two boys, I could instantly tell which one was mine because his roots changed from their previous black to silver (my favorite color) and the color spread outward until it had dyed his whole head.
The process took about two seconds and the same instant it began, I felt a cool sensation like cold water was trickling down my head and when I looked back down, my hair was a pretty royal blue.
And despite how terrified I was, I couldn't help but feel slightly excited too.
