Chapter 27
(Music in external link!)
My cheeks are still heated slightly from the earlier events. We're currently all sat in Claire's games room on her sofas and beanbags along with Eva. Iris dropped Eva off back here before she went back to work, usually she sleeps in another house they own that is nearer to her work because of how long her shifts are and if she didn't she would probably have fell asleep while driving by now.
We've decided to watch 'Finding Nemo' which was Eva's choice, fine it was mostly mine but that's only because I've never seen it before. I'm sat on one of the large beanbags with Alex and Eva is sat in front of us, I'm actually enjoying this movie. I think it's exciting and funny, I particularly like Dory because she's kind of stupid but a really nice person, well fish.
I'm smiling furiously by the end of the movie, I love the ending when all the fish are friends. I really wish my life could be like that, a happy ending would be really nice but this is real life and I doubt anyone has a happy ending.
I look at the clock and realise it's already past Eva's bedtime. "Okay Eva, you need to get to bed now. Schools in the morning." I say, stretching like a cat.
"But I don't wanna' go to bed, all the other kids go bed later than me." She whines, dramatically splaying out o the floor.
"Well, those kids won't look as beautiful as you because you have more beauty sleep." I say trying to convince her, every once in a while she has a tantrum about her bedtime but it's not as often as other kids because she knows that I already have enough stress as it is.
"But everyone knows you don't get more beautiful by going to sleep, even sleeping beauty doesn't!" She whines again, why does she have to be bothered about this?
"Please Eva, you need some sleep. We've been up all day and you need your rest, you don't want to be grumpy in the morning and have a teacher tell you off." I say hoping she'll go to bed.
She pouts sulkily, I know I've got her now. Eva doesn't like her current teacher because she shouts a lot and it scares her, I know I shouldn't use that against her but I really don't want to deal with any of her tantrums tonight.
I lead her across the hall to her bedroom that's on Claire's floor and tuck her in. I stay with her until she falls asleep at her request and watch as her breaths slow down as she falls into a peaceful sleep.
I walk back down the hall and see that Zeke and Alex are still here talking to Claire. "Oh hi, I didn't realise that you'd both still be here." I say surprised.
"Trying to kick us out so soon? What a horrible person you are." Zeke in mock hurt.
"Yeah I was actually, now get out before I get my chainsaw." I joke, remembering the time we all watched 'The Texas chainsaw massacre.'
"That's a low blow Luz! I can't believe you would even mention that!" He says with a pout, clearly not amused by my joke. Claire starts to chuckle at the memory of what happened. "You know that film was really scary!"
I laugh at this, it was scary but not scary enough to do what he did. "Why what happened?" I hear Alex ask suddenly.
I smirk at him and look to see what Zeke does. "Don't you dare tell him! Or I'll-" Zeke says shaking his head.
"-Or what? What are you going to do if I tell him?" I ask knowing he hasn't got an answer.
"I don't know but you'll regret it." Zeke says menacingly.
A smirk forms on my face as I get ready to tell him. "Well, when we were 13 we watched 'The Texas chainsaw massacre' and Zeke was terrified. But when one of the people were killed he peed himself, all over Claire's cream sofa as well. You should have seen his face when he told her mom and dad what happened!"
