Okay, I know that you all probably hate me for taking such a long time to update. I know that you've all probably stoped reading but if you still are then thank you for sticking around! My reason for not updating is that the computer which held the document for Keeping The Pieces was given to my mums friend as we didn't have any internet at the time so I could never have updated even with the computer in my possession. But the good news is that I have internet again and a new laptop which I won't have to lend out to anyone.
I'm going to stop going on with myself now and let you read the new chapter (BTW you might need to re-read the last chapter to understand it)
Chapter 29
(music in external link!)
At lunch we all sit on the bleachers. Alex pulled me onto his lap even though I protested and Claire is laying across the seats while leaning on Zeke. We’re all sat in silence while we eat our lunches, I’m currently eating a plain sandwich with plain butter on. You’d think that I would have enough money to pay for food, well I do most of the time but I like to save it in case we end up not having enough.
Most people are still staring at us but it seems to have calmed down a bit since this morning. I really don't understand their interest, to be perfectly honest this is reminding me of a teen movie. People have actually tried to talk to me as well but they gave up when my biggest response was nodding at them.
I hear someone clear their throat behind me and I turn from Alex to see a guy that’s familiar, he’s probably on the football team or something. I smile at the small ginger guy, well he’s taller than me but he is pretty small for a guy.
“Hi, I’m George.” He says in a really deep voice, It sounds like one of the voices that are used to introduce movies on the T.V commercials.
I nod at him in acknowledgment but other than that I say nothing. He frowns at this but still tries to talk to me, “Well, I just wanted to introduce myself. Because we haven’t really had much chance to get to know each other and I was hoping that maybe we could be friends.” His confidence has dwindled slightly but he’s still determined to get me to talk.
I sigh and decide to talk hoping he’ll go away, “I’m Luz but I’m not really looking for any friends right now, sorry.”
His smile instantly depletes and I feel guilty, “Oh, that’s fine. I wasn’t really looking for any new friends that much either.” I watch guiltily as he walks away.
I feel Alex make me turn my head towards him. “Don’t feel too bad, he was just dared by his friends to come and talk to you.” He says pointing over at the jocks where George is being pushed around jokingly as they joke about him not being able to get a girl.
I just shrug as a smile forms back on my face. At least I know that I didn’t hurt his feelings too much. I glance around at all the other upperclassmen and see that everyone is in their cliché groups. Well this school isn’t really that cliché but everyone sticks to their group of friends, but most people have friends who are in the same clubs as them. The more popular people don’t really bully anyone but they have people that they don’t necessarily like just like any other teenager at school.
When I spot Lacy, I see that she’s hanging around with her friends. She mostly just hangs around with five other girls who aren’t as fake a her but still fake enough. Her groups of friends would be considered the fake geeks because even is they’re fake they’re actually surprisingly clever.
Lacy is actually glaring at me right now which annoys me slightly, I know that she like’s Alex but she doesn’t even know him well enough to be this hung up over him. I mean the only other reason that she could be glaring at me would be because she hated that we were still together even after that rumour was spread.
