Urgh my head hurts and my body aches, this happens far too often for my liking.
"Morning," Noah mumbles sleepily into my ear, nudging his nose into my neck, "we're gonna have to get up soon."
"Mmhhmm," I complain, "why? They said anytime."
The tiredness is evident in my tone no matter how hard I try to hide it, it's just impossible. I do NOT want to move from this bed, I do not have the physical or mental energy to move let alone have surgery.
"Better to get it over and done with right?" He asks, "I mean you can get lots of sleep after the surgery."
I stifle a giggle by covering my face with palms of my hands, "true and true."
"I won't let you lift a finger after this," he smiles as he kisses my forehead.
I sigh, "well I don't want to be totally bed bound."
He traces his finger along my jaw, "you can get out of bed just not do anything strenuous," he moves closer his lips just inches away from mine, "I'm going to take care of you."
My heart flutters as I close the gap between us, my arms instinctively go around his neck and for a moment I forget what's actually happening today.
He pulls away first looking down into my eyes trying to gauge how I'm feeling, it's like his eyes are probing my face trying to uncover my true feelings behind the mask of calm that I am currently wearing.
"We should go," I whisper just loud enough for him to here, I just want this over and out the way now like he said.
He nods and pulls the duvet from our bodies, the cold air creating goose bumps on my skin. I climb out of bed and put on yesterday's clothing. Gross I know but who really cares when you're about to go for surgery anyway?
I slip my boots on and wait for Noah to follow behind me, we exit the room like we usually do hand in hand and get into the lift.
What will I feel like the next time I come back to this room? What state will I be in? What if they find something else?

*Noah's POV*We enter examinations and my dad is already standing there with our onsite surgeon Caspian who is already dressed in scrubs, behind him stands two nurses also dressed the same.
I tighten my grip on Lacey's hand as I begin to feel it becoming clammy from anxiety, I can't imagine what she must be feeling right now but this has to happen. This will be the end of a chapter and a start of a new once we move out and onto wherever we're being put next.
If I'm being honest since Lacey came into my life it has been turned upside down, I never thought that this is where I would be if I looked ahead all those many months ago. But one thing for sure is that I would never change any of it, I would never change her. I've found her and I can't afford to lose her.
"Good morning," dad smiles, "are you ready Lacey?"
She takes a minute as she looks down at the floor, I need to see her eyes they're the only way I can see as to what she's feeling. I squeeze her hand and draw small circles on the skin just below her thumb, she lifts her head until her eyes meet mine. Only then I realise the sheer terror and apprehension in her eyes, "you're going to be okay," I soothe.
She nods her head and a faint smile takes over her lips, "I'll be right here waiting for you okay?" I say to her as I peck her lips.
Before I know it she's taken away from me to be prepped, leaving both me and my dad in examinations to wait.
