-2 weeks later-
*Lacey's POV*I walk across the field towards the trees looking up at the sky as the sun tries to break through the cloud and fog. My hair blows in the wind and I pull the grey blanket closer to my body, I couldn't be bothered to find a jacket.
I just felt drawn. Drawn to the outside as soon as I woke up, I untangled my arms and legs from Noah's and crept out of the house taking one of the blankets with me. It's nice to be alone sometimes, just me and my thoughts.
I've been out here for a while, maybe forty five minutes? The past two weeks have been incredible, no contact or attacks. We've been monitored closely as our teams of guards live in one of the outbuildings, Noah has returned partly to work and so I've been left on a number of occasions alone to do whatever I want. I do miss him whilst he's gone though.
I startle as I hear the sound of faint footsteps and the snapping of twigs behind me, I turn around to see Noah and our new edition to the family; Harley a German shepherd. After discussing the whole puppy idea with Noah we both agreed and started searching the next day, we then found a breeder and picked him up three days later after he had all of his injections.
"What are you doing out here?" He asks sounding worried, "I wondered where you'd gone."
I sigh bending down and scratching Harley's head receiving a lick on my cheek as a thank you, "I just needed to think that's all."
He sits down patting the grass next to him for me to join him, "sit," he instructs Harley who then sits at the bottom of our feet, "what's up?"
The truth is I didn't know how to say what was up. I had been thinking about it for the last couple of days, it's only today that I've realised I might actually want to go out and do something about it.
I pull the blanket tighter around my body and put my head in my hands, "I've been thinking," I sigh, "what's happened to my mum?"
He looks up from the piece of grass that he's twiddling between his thumb and index finger, "nothing," he states, "her life has just carried on, she wasn't involved in anyway so we left her."
My heart drops at the thought, I mean it's all good that she hasn't been involved in anyway. At least she wasn't interrogated for something she never even did, but there was a thought that still remains at the back of my mind.
Is she still with my father?"I wonder if she's still with him?" I wonder aloud, "surely she knew about his job right? About what he was doing?"
"Not necessarily," Noah says grabbing my hand and interlocking our fingers together, "he could have had the both of you fooled, for all she knew she might have just known he works for the government."
"More like against it," I roll my eyes and remove a strand of my hair from off my face, "I just wonder about her, that's all."
"Whatever you want to do I'll support you," he reassures me.
"Thank you," I smile, "I just need some time to think."
"That's okay," he says standing up, "c'mon lets go get something to eat."
At the word 'eat' Harley springs up off the ground and starts whining, "you act as if we don't feed you," I chuckle rubbing the soft fur on the top of his head.
