~ Chapter 9 ~
Isabelle
After I did my business in the toilets, I had the sudden urge to bunk Chemistry. Just because I was supposed to act good doesn’t mean I couldn’t do bad things once in a while.
I hoisted my bag up to my shoulders. It was a good thing I grabbed it before I left to go to the toilet and started to make my way over to the front gate.
Looking back once more, I suddenly felt guilty. Greg and his family have done a lot for me; I would be a bitch if I just left him hanging.
I sighed, it hadn’t even been a few days that I’ve had to spend with him and he’s already having an effect on me. Stupid boy!
I walked back to the Chemistry classroom and wasn’t surprised to see everyone doing their work. I guess this is why it’s called AP class rather than a normal class. In a normal class, I’m sure most people would be too busy gossiping to learn anything and the teacher at the front would be drinking his coffee and thinking up which homework to set the children as they leave.
They should know by now that no-one does their precious homework. We spent six and a half hours in school anyway and they expect us to do more at home. No thank you, I actually do have a social life!
I sat down next to Greg, he was wearing a lab coat and some goggles. He looks ready for his experiment, the nerd!
Scoffing loudly, I caught eyes with Mr Bailey. He looked like he was fixing up his PowerPoint to show the class. Someone didn’t do their homework last night!
Not even a minute later, he got everyone’s attention.
“Okay class, I have the presentation working now so face yourself towards the board and I will go over what we will be covering today.”
Is that what teachers call it today? ‘Making the PowerPoint work?’ More like, I was too bothered watching football on the telly last night and couldn’t be asked to prepare for my lessons.
Deciding not to listen to him any further, I dug my I-pod out of my messenger bag. It wasn’t the new model and it didn’t have something like 16GB on it but it still meant a lot to me.
It was one of the few things that I spent long hours working for and it paid off. This was mine and that felt great to say!
Leaning back and listening to Coldplay ‘Paradise’ I fell asleep.
Greg
I sighed heavily. This experiment was just so confusing. There was a tray of 15 odd chemicals with no labels and we had to work out what was what. I seriously think the school was stupid; here they were giving harmful chemicals to children?
What were they going to do next: Let kids walk around with guns in their pockets?
I shook my head but carried on working. A few moments later, I heard distant beats from a very familiar song.
