My best advice is to be wary of all advice. There are many good-intentioned people who suggest things like "write every day!" or "use an outline!" but ultimately, this advice only works for some people some of the time. Whatever gets words down for you is what you should do.
That said, I do think some pretty universal things are true:
Writing takes practice.
Have adventures.
Don't give up.
