Chapter 58
As I shoveled spoonful after spoonful of eggs into my mouth, while my aunt blow dried my hair, and my boyfriend sat criss cross applesauce on the island with my seven year old cousin making bracelets I realized how strange my life really is. I was running late for the airport, as I was supposed to meet my step mum, my "dad" my step brother and his best friend at the airport.
"Valerie, when are we going to see Lacey?" Jake asked as he continued to place beads through the string following the pattern Niall was making. I couldn't help bun grin, Jessie and I had been teasing Jake all morning about making bracelets for Lacey, he was so anxious to give it to her already.
"Well, I need to start and finish my essay because I need to have it done by today for the English class I'm going to be taking when I start college, it's your last day in London so I need to spend it with you of course, and we need to see Lacey. But first, I need to go to the airport, but I promise you will see her." I told him through ha mouthful of pancakes.
"He's just so excited to give Lacey those bracelets." Jessie laughed over the sound of the blow dryer.
Jake scowled at the both of us and pointed over to Niall who was lost in putting bead after bead into the thin string, his eyebrows a furrow on his forehead, his pink lips sticking out of his slightly parted lips in concentration.
"He's making one for you and you guys aren't bugging him!" Jake whined, clearly annoying of mine and Jessie's teasing. Niall's head popped up at the indirect to him, and he scowled back at Jake.
"I told you to keep it a secret!" Niall whined dramatically as he laid the bracelet onto the island, move my plate of food out of the way and lay down on the island as well. I smiled down at him as he reached over and poked my cheek. Even though Niall and I were angry at each other only days before, everything is going so well I just don't have the heart to bring that subject up. It just sorted faded away; the fight was forgotten about, none of us caring any longer.
"Harry is going to kill you after he sees what you did to his shirt." Niall laughed as he glanced down at my shirt.
It was Harry's Rolling Stones shirt that I had cut the sleeves off of and wore with a black bandeau. I smiled and look down at my shirt, knowing that Niall was right; Harry was going to kill me once he actually saw what I did to it. Jessie sighed from behind me, "My arms hurt, I don't want to do your hair anymore!"
I patted down my hair which had finally dried, and I planned on curling it but I was running so late. I grabbed the red beanie that said 'Aint no Wifey' from Jessie's hands and placed it on my head, trying to tame the wild beast know as my hair.
Niall reached over to grab a piece of bacon off of Jessie's plate but she swatted his hand away and took her plate in her arms like it was her child.
"Hell nah boy you don't be touching a pregnant lady's bacon." Jessie scolded as she took the piece of bacon and quickly chewed it down.
"I miss my art studio." Jessie sighed as she continued to eat.
"We can get you an art studio if you moved here?" I suggested. A part of me was only joking but I really didn't want them to leave. Jessie, Mum and Jake made me happy and I knew that I won't be seeing them for a while.
Jessie gave me a small smile, "You know we have to go home baby girl."
I sighed loudly, throwing my arms in the air, "But why!? Why can't you just live here and everyone lives happily ever after?!"
Jessie continued to smile, "You know Valerie you have always been the dreamer. I don't know where you get it from, your mom, and I have always been realists. But the strange thing about you is that nevertheless, you are a dreamer but you don't believe in happy endings. Why is that?"
