Angela's POV

I was over at Betty's house one day hanging out with her. We were getting ready to go to the movies. She had finally convinced me that it'd be ok to go try and find some boys. She went inside to change into a pretty jean skirt and a plaid shirt. I was sitting out on her front porch when Josh came out.

"Hey," he came and sat by me, "So y'all are gonna try to find some little boyfriends?"

"It was her idea!" I joked.

"Oh, sure it was. Don't lie to me."

It felt as though he just scooted closer to me. I wasn't sure though, so I moved a little farther away.

"Oh, sorry, Angela. I didn't mean to invade your space. A bee was just flying around me." He awkwardly sat way farther away.

Just as our weird conversation was going on Betty came back out. Apparently just in time to witness all of it.

"Look at you two love birds." She laughed as she sat on the other side of Josh, forcing me to sit by him.

"Yeah right Betty." He defended himself.

Josh was sixteen years old. Not too old for me, but it'd still be awkward because I thought of him as a brother, not boyfriend, or anything even close to that.

"Well, Angela?" Betty asked, then Josh repeated it.

"What?" I looked at them. I had been looking away blushing because of their conversation.

"Do you like Josh?" Betty replied.

Josh looked at me with an incredibly handsome smile I'd never noticed before. It was hard to say no, but I couldn't admit it to his face. I'm not sure I could even have honestly admitted it, I'd never thought about it before.

"Um, honestly, well, I've never thought about it." I stuttered.

Josh's face seemed to drop a little, but not too much.

"Why?" I questioned them, "Do you like me?"

Betty turned into a jr high romance fanatic. She could hardly contain her excitement. She loved love.

"Um," Josh lifted his left eyebrow, "Um, yeah."

He looked like he couldn't believe the words he'd just spoken.

Josh's POV

Betty was being a stupid little sister. Angela and I clearly just had an awkward moment because of a lame bee, and now Betty was making it worse. She asked Angela if she liked me, but Angela didn't know. And then Angela asked if I liked her, I'd never really thought of it either, but the words came straight out of my mouth. I admitted to Angela's face that I liked her. I could hardly believe it. She looked calm, maybe she was still soaking in the truth.

"Sorry," Angela apologized, "I shouldn't have asked. You were just being nice."

"I'll just let you guys have a moment alone," Betty smiled as she walked inside.

"What should you be sorry for?" I asked Angela, very surprised.

"For asking if you liked me. Of course you don't, you were just being nice."

She looked like she meant that, so I thought she didn't like me, but a part of her seemed to want her words to be a lie.

"I wouldn't lie to you, Angela." I said as a stood up and grabbed her hands, pulling her up as well.

I felt like I was in some lame romantic movie. Everything was happening too perfectly. I was saying the perfect things, doing the perfect things, she was being beautiful, blushing at every word I said. Maybe I'm dreaming, I thought.
