Chapter 5

Cold and Dark.

That’s how I felt at the moment. I could hear dripping of water. I couldn’t see anything at the moment. It felt like something was around my eyes to keep me from seeing. My hands were tied behind my back and my legs were tied as well. I shivered from the coldness around me.

‘Where am I?’

A large door slammed made me jump in surprise. I started to breath heavily as I footsteps come closer to me. My heart beats a million times per second. My eyes widen under the fabric. I heard the footsteps stop. An evil chuckle was heard. My heart skipped a beat and my face turned pale. This man seems-no is evil.

“My look at you, you’re shivering” he hissed. I shudder at his voice. He’s like a snake.

Suddenly the fabric around my eyes dropped around my neck and I stared at golden snake eyes. A gasp escapes my lips as I stared at them. An evil grin appears on his face.

“Sweet, beautiful Kai” I shudder when he said my name.

‘Who is he? How does he know my name?’

“Who are you?” I finally got the courage to ask. His grin widens.

“We’ll meet each other soon, Kai” I feeling pain shot through me from my neck. My eyes widen and I scream in pain.

My eyes shot open and I sat up in bed. Sweat pour down my face as I breathe heavily. I grasp my neck and jumped up and went into the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and see nothing on my neck.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips. I wash my face with cold water. Drying my face I look in the mirror again and my eyes widen. On my neck were three comas in a circle. I gently touched the mark and pain sore through my body. I started at what for an eternity before the mark disappeared.

My head became dizzy and wobbled to my room. I immediately laid in bed and was engulfed by darkness.

I decided to keep my problem last night a secret from everyone. I wanted to know what it is before telling anyone.

Kakashi-san took me with him to tell his students about the Chuunin Exams. He told me to keep Mao at home. As much as I wanted to bring him with us, I wasn’t able to. Once there I didn’t bother paying attention to what he was saying. Instead, I paid attention to the water. I looked at my reflection that was showing on the water.

A tap on my shoulder woke me up from my trance. A pair of bright blue eyes stared at mine and I could feel tiny heat coming to my face. I look away and notice that Kakashi was gone.

‘He left me again!’

“Hey, are you okay?” Naruto, I think, asked. I looked back at him and slightly nodded.

“Are you sure?” Sakura asked.

I nodded again.

“So, you wanna get some ramen with me?” Naruto asked. I raised a brow.

“Ramen?” I asked. Naruto’s eyes widen. “You don’t know what ramen is!”

I was suddenly pulled by Naruto and dragged away. I looked back at the other two who walked behind us.

“Naruto, you’re going to hurt her!” Sakura yelled at him.

I was pulled to a seat and a food stand. The smell of something good came to my nose. I could feel my mouth water slightly. Soon Sakura and Sasuke came and sat down. Sasuke sat right next to me with Sakura right next to him.

“Ichiraku Ramen is the best ramen in the world!” Naruto exclaimed with a smile. I can tell that this guy really loves ramen. Is it as good as he says it is?

A lady came to order us food. When it came my turn, I didn’t know what to order. Instead, Naruto ordered for me. When she left, Naruto kept going on about ramen and how amazingly good it is.

A few minutes later a bowl of food was set in front of me. I quietly thanked her and grabbed the chopsticks and started to dig in. I picked the noodles up and slurped it in my mouth. My face lightens up at the taste.

“Do you like it?” Naruto asked. I looked at him and everyone else who was looking at me. I nodded my head and started to eat more. It’s really amazing. I wished Kakashi-san would cook like this.

After eating, everyone started separating. Sakura stayed longer to ask if Sasuke wanted to walk her home. He bluntly said no and walked away. Sakura looked down gloomily and walked home. I followed Sasuke since we were going the same way. I walked right next to him and took in the familiar surroundings as we were walking.

I glanced at Sasuke who was looking straight forward. It was a comfortable walk. He was comfortable to be around I guess. I guess we separated from where we were. I was about to turn when he grabbed my arm. I looked at him.

“Remember that kid with the gourd, Gaara?” he asked. I nodded my head slowly. “I saw the way he looked at you.”

He looked straight into my eyes. “Stay away from him.”

He let go of my arm and walked off. I stared at him. Confused were shown in my eyes. He looked so serious, yet he said everything so bluntly.

I turned around and walked home.

Nighttime fell quickly. I lay in bed with Mao snuggled in my arms. He let out a small yawn as he slept peacefully. I tried to close my eyes, but every time I did I saw those golden eyes that now haunted my dreams.

For the past three days it’s been hard to sleep. The man in my dreams keeps coming back.

I sat up in bed and looked out the window. The Chuunin Exams had started. I wonder if Naruto and the others are doing fine.

‘Sasuke’

His words are still stuck in my head.

“Stay away from him.”

My mind is mixed with different feelings. One, I guess I’m grateful that he’s trying to protect me from danger. At the same time, why would he care? Sasuke doesn’t seem like the person to care for somebody. I can tell by the way he treats Sakura-chan.

I looked down at my stomach and slowly touched it. I haven’t talked to Ryo in forever, though he never answers when I tried to.

‘Ryo?

…

No reply. I let out a sigh and lay back down. I turned towards Mao and hold him in my chest. Hopefully, he can help me relaxed from this nightmare.

*3rd Person*

A group of ninja stood a few feet away from the window. They looked as the girl laid peacefully in bed hold the cub in her arms.

“Is that the girl?” a female voice asked. The leader of the group nodded his head in response.

The guy beside him smirked. “She’s a cutie. Do we get her now?”

“No. We have to wait, remember.” The leader stated. The guy right next to him scoffed.

“When do we then?” the girl asked this time. The leader stared at the girl for a while.

“When Orochimaru signals us” he replied.

I honestly love this chapter a lot. So much is starting to happen. Next chapter’s is going to be awesome. [Hopefully.]
