We make our way silently through the forest and occasionally I catch Cyclone checking me out out of the corner of his eye. Just to tease him I look him straight in the eyes and pull my ears down in a cute manner causing him to perk his ears and look away quickly, but I don't miss the fast beating of his heart.

After about a mile and a half we come to an even more beautiful clearing with a rock formation in the center, wildflowers of every color cover the field surrounding the rocks. I catch the sound of rustling and look to the right of the rocks as two pups come tumbling out from behind them in a mass of fur. They are soon followed by an elderly female with pale and matted fur, "Fern, Kia get back in the den this instant, you are not supposed to be out when your parents aren't here!" She growls sternly. The pups stop and look in my direction before scampering behind the pup sitter whimpering.

With a sigh, Broach's mate, whose name is Willow, steps forward and trots to the pups, "Fern. Kia. You know you're supposed to listen to Zera."

The pups rub against her legs, "Yes, mamma."

So, they're Broach's pups, huh?

Again, the pups look at me with fear evident in their eyes, "Who is the super scary wolf mamma?" the female pup with a dark grey pelt asks.

"Shh, Kia, she can hear you. Remember your manners. This is Rook, she will be staying in the pack territory until the full moon. She won't hurt you, she promised." As she said the last statement, she looked at me with a threatening glimmer in her eyes. I just bow my head to her and walk to the other edge of the forest and lay down with a sigh and close my eyes.

As I'm about to doze off, I sense another wolf's approach. I flick my tail in irritation without opening my eyes and the wolf stops. I wait a minute, but the wolf doesn't move away. "What do you want?" I say as I open my eyes to find the female pup from earlier shivering. "You're the pup that thinks I'm scary, huh?" I say with a smirk.

The pup cowers, "M...my name is K...Kia." She stammers and I can't help but feel pity for the pup and change my smirk to a warm smile.

"Like your mother said, my name is Rook." Kia opens her mouth to say something, but she stops and goes into a fit of shivers.

She is still a pup, so she is cold and needs warmth.

Without a second thought, I reach out my huge paw and pull Kia into my chest. I can feel her tense at my touch but soon relaxes and snuggles into my chest fur.

Man, this is one brave pup. She will be a great Alpha female when she grows up.

I yawn and rest my head above Kia and on my paws, blocking her from the chilly breeze and soon I fall asleep while listening to the soft breathing of the furball that has already claimed my affection.

"Kia! Where is Kia?"

I wake up to the sound of the rest of the pack running around shouting Kia's name, "Shh, be quiet!" I yell in a whisper.

Everyone stops and looks at me. Willow runs up to me with pure rage in her eyes and she bares her teeth at me, "What did you do with my daughter, Rook!"

I just glare back at her and try to keep my voice calm and low, "I said to be quiet."

Willow looks like she is about to attack me, but I lift me head and slowly shift a paw to uncover Kia's sleeping figure. I watch as all anger leaves Willow's face and is replaced with relief.

"She came to me to say hello and none of you noticed. She could have frozen to death, so I kept her warm." I explained with a sigh while standing up slowly, careful not to wake Kia, then I look at Willow with a stoic expression, "Don't expect me to do that again." I then turn away from her and trot into the woods to look for something to hunt.

Above is Willow
