You groan as you get out of the car. Hoodie had decided to drive through five different towns before stopping at the sixth one. You popped your back, black spots coming into your vision. Hoodie barely shows any emotion, other than rubbing his head. Looking in the car you notice that he shows no sign of getting out. You growl and slam your door. So he was leaving you to get the backpacks on your own... Great. It wasn't that you wanted him to come with you, wait, you DID want him to come with you! It wasn't going to be hard to find the backpacks but you would've liked some company, even if he never spoke.
As you looked back a small smirk crawled onto your face. At least you were going into an air conditioned environment, he was stuck in a desert hot car. You strolled up to the store and went inside. You walked towards the back. As you looked at a few things you heard a small noise. You brushed it off as nothing. But then you heard it again. You looked around.
You were the only one in that aisle. You stepped out, a small frown forming on your head as you heard it again. It was like a quiet movement, like shuffling feet. You saw the bags and lightly jogged over. You bent over, looking at the largest ones. You heard that noise again, but it was closer. You looked up and yelped. You fell back placing a hand on your chest.
One of the workers was three feet from you. He blushed a bright red. He was probably no older than sixteen. You slowly stood up shaking your head.
You chuckled. "Man, you really scared me."
He swallows. You give him a weird look before noticing the boxes in his hands. You quickly step out of the way. He sets the boxes down shaking his hands, giving a bright smile.
"Are you sure I'm not in your way?" You ask, wondering why he isn't speaking.
He nods. Noticing the weird look on your face he opens his mouth puts up a finger and moves it down in an arc shape while shaking his head. You make an O shape with your mouth.
"You're mute?"
He nods. You rub your arm awkwardly. You pick up two of the best looking bags. He slowly gets down, opening the boxes. You drop the backpacks and get down. He looks up blushing again. You grin.
"I'm in no rush, if you want, I can help. Besides my car's air conditioner sucks." You laugh.
He gives a small smile. He starts taking out purses. You find the matching purse on a rack and begin hanging them up. So for about ten minutes that's what you two did. He'd take the purse out, you'd hang it up. He was quite adorable, even though he was probably much younger than you. You wished at the moment that you weren't being kidnapped by Hoodie and that you were younger. As you finished the boy smiled.
You two stood up. He lightly shook your hand. You blushed. He mouthed the words "thank you." You hummed a chuckle.
"Welcome." You said taking your hand back. You picked the backpacks up, the boy watched silently.
He picked up the empty boxes while looking down. You smiled at him.
"It was nice helping you but I better hurry before my pal gets mad." You laugh. "He chose to stay in the hot car."
The boy gives a small smile. He waves and begins walking off. You wave back, hurrying to the front to check out the bags. When you went back outside, you noticed the car windows were down. You poked your head in Hoodie's window to notice that he had his hoodie off. He had a black shirt on, his mask still covering his eyes and head.
You smothered your laughter. He didn't seem to be awake. You reached your hand in, placing your fingertips on his cheek. You move your hand to the point that your palm is resting on a small fraction of the side of his face. His skin was so soft, it didn't even feel like he had started shaving yet. You quickly drew your hand back, blushing.
Walking to the other side you notice a small movement out of the corner of you eye. You look but all you see is a napping Hoodie. You open the door, throwing the backpacks in the back seat.
You lightly shake Hoodie. He groans as he sits up. Without speaking to you he starts the car. He cracks his knuckles and begins driving. You watch as a bead of sweat trickles down his arm. He flexes slightly as he turns. You bite your lower lip.
You didn't like him but you had to admit that he had an attractive body. He turned his head ever so slightly to look at you. You swallowed.
"What took you so long?" He asked quietly.
"I... I was helping a mute put up purses."
He nods slowly. You suck your lips in, waiting for any vocal response. He remains quiet. You pout, slightly mad. You were hoping for a conversation not awkward silence. You jump as he starts speaking again.
"That was nice of you." He says quietly.
You blush, smiling softly. "He was a nice kid..."
Hoodie doesn't reply this time. Your smiles somehow grows bigger. You didn't understand why, considering you wanted it to go away. As you tried to frown you almost chuckle. You covered your mouth, snorting.
Hoodie looks over, giving you a weird look. (By look I mean he twisted his mouth a little). You look over and can't help but burst out laughing. You didn't know why. You try to stop, only to laugh harder. Before you know it you hear Hoodie laughing too. You look over to see a big smile on his face.
"Crap! Your laugh infected me!" He says, laughing harder.
You swore that you two some how got drunk! You snorted again, leaning back grabbing your sides. This kept up for a few minutes. Hoodie had even started rubbing his stomach with one hand.
As you two started calming down, you noticed how out of breath you were. Tears had started streaming down your cheeks. Your sides hurt like crazy. But you kept grinning. Hoodie, for once, had a smile remain on his face.
He reached a hand under his mask to wipe his eyes. All tension was gone. You hadn't laughed like that in what seemed forever. You leaned against the window, sighing happily.
You could feel Hoodie looking at you. Your grin becomes a softer smile. His attention dissipates from you and back to the road. Suddenly your kidnapping was becoming less... Bad? You weren't quite sure. Hoodie wasn't that bad of a guy, from what you could tell. You've only known him for about half a day so you weren't completely sure.
But you liked being able to see him smile, to watch his mood become brighter. It was easy to tell when he was mad, even with that mask covering his mouth. You would feel the tension suffocate you. Not to mention his every move seemed deadly. His voice would become stern. It scared you.
You rubbed your bandages, trying to itch a certain spot. Hoodie hasn't let you see the wound yet. You were a little worried about it. You gawked as he rolled the windows back up.
"What are you doing?!" You ask with some heat.
He doesn't answer. You go to role your window back down, but he locks them. You growl. He doesn't bother looking in your direction. His mouth is in a fine line. He isn't mad yet. You glare.
Was he trying to kill you? You turned to him placing a hand on his thigh you leaned over to unlock the windows. He shoves you back. You hit your head on the door and scream out in pain. Tears sting your eyes. Hoodie remains quiet, but flinches. He was so strange.
You rub your head, leaning back. A tear trickles down your cheek. It hurt quite a bit. Noticing that Hoodie looked like he didn't care, angered you. You were to be his apprentice, what if you got severely hurt, would he brush it off as nothing? You didn't expect him to baby you but a simple are you okay would've been nice.He slowly began driving out into the country. You hadn't spoken at all. You were still mad at him. He didn't seem pleased with you. He eventually stopped the car.
The area was nice. You looked at the sky. It was probably around three or four. Hoodie opened his door, grabbing the water, food, his hoodie, and one of the backpacks. You get out getting the other one.
As you close your door you feel a breeze blow through your hair. It felt amazing. Though the sun was still beating down on you the breeze really helped.
Hoodie began packing half of the water in his bag and started packing food. He suddenly stopped, grimacing.
"I told you to buy healthy foods. Not sugary fat makers!" He growls, throwing the candy to the ground.
You don't bother replying. You walk over, packing the rest of the water. Hoodie tenses, tightening his fists.
"Y/N, I'm not joking, we are going to be walking mile after mile! Candy isn't going to help you!"
You still remain silent. Your head is still throbbing. Hoodie grabs you by the back of your shirt, pulling you to your feet. You glare.
"What you are learning is how to ration food and water. We will hunt, but you eat what you catch. I will not be giving you my food." He says in a serious tone. You still don't speak. Hoodie let's you go. "This test wasn't about training a proxy. It was seeing if we could find good characteristics for one. I've obviously failed."
You go back to packing your bag. Comebacks were entering your head like crazy but you chose to keep your mouth shut. He wouldn't understand anyways.
When you were both finished you began walking. After about five minutes you were pouring sweat. Hoodie seemed fine. His sweatshirt was around his waist his backpack almost looked light on his back. He seemed fine.
You on the other hand were five feet behind him, dragging your feet. It was too hot. The breeze didn't help anymore. You felt weak. But you wouldn't take a drink of water until Hoodie did. That little lecture on what you were being chosen for, sparked something in you.
You would prove him wrong, make him eat his own words. You knew what you were doing. He wasn't going to win this. You'd put the other proxies to shame. You'd be the best.
