"You will come, and that is final." His mother demanded. He knew that inside she was screaming at him, but to do so would be very uncouth, and his mother was anything but.

He had received the last minute dinner invitation moments after putting on his pajamas and sitting down for the evening, his nerves were shaking in his bones as the minutes ticked by towards laying his head on his pillow.

"Put on a suit and get in the car. I've already sent it, so you have no excuses for being late." His mother continued.

"Yes, mother." He said, his lips tight as he nodded stiffly. There was absolutely no use arguing with his mother. Especially given the past few days.

The video chat clicked off and he was left stood in silence, thinking about what could possibly have possessed his mother to hold a family dinner. It was unlike her to do it so last minute, and without anyone to witness them as a happy family. But no, apparently it would just be him and his parents sat round the dinner table this evening.

"Giles, show the suits I have please." He said, flicking through the catalogue of clothes available to him that flickered onto the screen.

Knowing it was just his mother and father he had to impress, he chose a suit from a few seasons ago. The grey suit with blue stitching, with blue shoes and silver cufflinks.

He shrugged off his pajamas and with no enthusiasm put on the clothes he had chosen.

4 hours.

That was all he had to stay for.

Then he could come home and sleep.

With a sigh, he left his smart space and headed towards the waiting car.

Suspicion began to creep in his mind as he saw an empty car speeding away from his parents' home as he pulled up.

Just a family dinner? He scoffed to himself as the car pulled to a stop. He couldn't believe he actually believed his mother.

Straightening his suit jacket he knocked on the door, apprehensive about who exactly he was going to face once the door was opened.

There was a moment of relief as his eyes landed on Melody as his mother swung open the door and let him in.

Then there was the sinking realization of why exactly Melody was here.

"Darling! So glad you could come!" He received a kiss on each cheek before being lead around the room shaking the hands of his father and Frazor Banks, Melody's father.

Melody stood up from her chair as he approached her, receiving a small pat on his shoulder as his mother not so subtly left them alone.

"Bellamy." Melody said, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek before stepping away.

"Melody, how have you been?" He asked, giving her a genuine smile. He had felt nothing as she had kissed him, seeing her only as a possible friend and ally against his parents.

"Life has been interesting, you should join us in the community rooms some time, there are some people I think you would be very interested to meet." She replied, smiling back.

"Thank you, but the community rooms are not somewhere I feel very comfortable going." He replied, shivering at the thought of all the people there who would watch his every move, judge him for his parent's actions.

"That is a great shame. The community rooms are not as crowded as you think, and there are people there who have many answers for those who come with many questions." She replied cryptically, before sauntering around him to pick up a new drink from the full tray his mother had just set down on the side table.
