“Night mum” Pippa called out downstairs, her parents were sat in front of the TV watching the latest Science fiction. Science fiction definitely wasn’t her favourite genre
So she had decided to call it a night.
“Good night scallywag” her dad called out
“Sleep well darling” Her mum added before going back to the film.
Climbing into bed and closing her eyes, she sighed contently. In a matter of minutes she would be in her favourite place on earth and she would have it all to herself.
Just like every night she fell easily into her dream. Opening her eyes she slipped out of her bed changed out of her pyjamas and into a pair of dark blue shorts and a floral top.
Heading downstairs she put on her favourite blue pumps and headed outside. She had finished her book the night before and had not been able to find a book she had not yet read in the library.
She had decided to spend the day exploring, though she knew the town like the back of her hand- as she had been living and exploring in her dreams for all of her eighteen years, she felt that during her dreams the town came alive, magic flowed through the streets and energy surged in the wind.
Stepping outside the temperature was not too hot or too cold, it was perfect- just like always. Slowly she ambled into town, taking in any changes that had been made that day. There was nothing, not that there usually were. The people who lived around her were very much stuck in their ways, not changing unless absolutely necessary.
Deciding to go and spend a few hours in the park she took a short cut through an alley way and emerged into the play area. She jumped onto a swing and as she climbed higher and higher she took in her surrounding. She proceeded to climb the play castle and lay in its walls, soaking up the sun that shone high in the sky.
She knew she shouldn’t drift off because she would only wake up back in her bed but she was so relaxed she couldn’t help it.
The soft scraping sound of footfalls on gravel sent shockwaves through her body.
There were no other living creatures here but her. It was HER dream.
Sitting and peering over the wooden wall of the play castle she took in the person who was walking through the park.
He looked a few years older than her, tall with broad shoulders and olive skinned. he looked foreign- and lost- from the way he was looking around the park, she was certain of it.
No one had ever walked into her dreams before- and she wasn’t sure whether he was just a figment of her imagination or if he was actually real.
He isn’t real, she decided.
Though she didn’t understand why she would make him up, she had never been all that interested in guys but that was more because they tended to avoid her. Not that she minded, she preferred books and music. Deciding that if she laid back down and ignored him he would disappear, she did just that.
She heard him walk away, heading into the town centre and before long the world around her was silent once more.
He wasn’t the typical type of guy she would usually enjoy looking at.
Lie.
He was exactly the type of guy she enjoyed looking at, he was not the type of guy who enjoyed looking at her. They never had done.
She began to day dream, his body filling her mind. Stop it. She scolded herself. Dreaming was for reading books and walking in the park.
Yeah right, keep telling yourself that sunshine. What was she doing just laying here, he was in HER dream. Standing up and sliding down the slide on the side of the castle she quietly made her way after him.
Hiding behind the corner of the library building she watched as he wandered through the town, staring at everything in awe.
He’s shirtless! How did I miss that! She wondered. He was wearing white cotton pyjama pants, no shoes and no shirt.
Slipping in and out of the shadows of the buildings she watched as he wandered in and out of the shops. Staring at the corner supermarket it took him about five minutes to walk inside.
Weirdo. She thought. Who hasn’t seen a supermarket before? She waited for half an hour before he came out, looking as though he was in shock.
Should she go up and say hello?
No, probably not a good idea. She watched him stumble across the road, his head in his hands mumbling to himself- coming to a stop and sitting at the war memorial in the middle of the round about that sat in the middle of the road.
Surely if she were creating her perfect man, he would not be bat shit crazy!
She stayed hidden as he stood from the stone steps and made his way through the town to the fields next to the park, making sure to stay a good distance behind him. He stopped under her tree and sat down, slowly looking around taking everything in, she froze half hidden behind a tree next to the path leading to the play area as his gaze landed on her.
She sucked in a sharp when he slowly stood, keeping his gaze locked with hers.
Tentatively he walked forward, taking slow and deliberate steps towards her.
