Chapter 30

After an hour of reminiscing, Kondo leaves. Emi looks at the cake box and sighs, "I can't eat all those cakes by myself... I could always call the Odd Jobs and invite them over...." She flips open her phone and starts dialing the number when the front door slides open, "Hellooo Miss Emiko!" She drops her phone and rushes to the figure in the doorway, "Kamui!" She throws her arms around him and starts laughing, "I've missed you, idiot!" "Ow ow ow, now now Emi. Hitting the back of my head isn't going to solve anything, ya know?" "You perfectly perfect idiot! I've missed you so much! Didn't you miss me at all?" Kamui wraps his arms around her waist and softly smiles, "Of course I missed you. Who else will feed, hit, and kiss me all in one day?" "I don't know... Takasugi looked like he'd be willing to do it if it kept you near him." "Does it really look like Shinsuke likes me that much? That's weird because I honestly just to be the one that kills him." Emi sighs, "You just wanna kill that little trio, don't you?" "Those Samurai are very interesting. They're all my prey and I can't wait till I'm able to fight them." "It's not going to be fun when one of them overpowers you." "Ha? You're saying like that will ever happen." Emi smiles and kisses his cheek, "Oh I'm sorry, I forgot. You want to be the strongest in the universe, right?" "Yep! But I'll have to get rid of a certain obstacle first." "Umibozu isn't an obstacle. I think you only think that because he's bigger than you. But in all honesty, I think you're strongest." "Ohhhh, how cute. My little wife wants to be treated today." Emi's face lights up, "I do! I really do!" "How will I make up for being gone for a few weeks? Oh I know! A little skin on skin action never hurt anyone." Emi smirks as Kamui dips her down and passionately kisses her, "Emiko, you're making it hard to kiss you when you're smiling like this." "I can't help it! I'm really happy!!" Emi puts her hands on his cheeks and pushes herself deeper into the kiss. Kamui tightens his hold on her and moves them towards the futon. But before that, he made sure that the front door was closed so that he and his wife could have the perfect alone time.

Emi tightens her grip on his hand as they walk down the street, "Now remember, no getting into fights with Sougo and no teasing Hijikata." She looks down at the little orange haired boy who nods his head, "Yes Mama!" "Promise?" "Of course! Cross my heart and if I break it I'll swallow a thousand needles!" Emi smiles and gives his hand a little squeeze, "That's my perfect little Kazu." They arrive at the Shinsengumi Headquarters moments later and are greeted with smiles. "Good Afternoon Kazu and Emi." "Good Afternoon, Yamazaki!" Kazu bows his head, "Good Afternoon, Zaki!" "Is Isao-Chan around?" Yamazaki nods his head, "Of course! He's in the meeting room with the Vice Chief and Captain." "Thank you! Come along, Kazu!" "Yes, Mama. Bye Zaki!" "Bye Kazu!" The two walk into the meeting room and are greeted by very familiar faces. "Uncle Kondo!!!" Kazu releases his mother's hand and runs into Kondo's arms. Kondo chuckles and hugs Kazu tightly, "Hey there, Little Guy! Have you been behaving?" Hijikata dusts his sleeve off and chuckles, "Being related to that woman isn't really a sign of good behavior." "RUDE! I haven't gotten into a fight recently!" Sougo smiles and crosses his arms, "When was the last fight you got into?" "Like three days ago... That's why I said recently..." Hijikata stares at Emi, "How long is recently to you?!" "Eh a day. Maybe like a few hours." Sougo chuckles, "Well how about we fight right now?" "Is that a challenge, S Prince?" "Yes yes it is!" Hijikata grabs Sougo by the jacket and shakes his head, "You both are a bad influence on Kazu." Emi scowls, "You're diet will be a bad influence on my baby." "Mayonnaise is the king of all condiments! It goes good with everything, there's no way it is a bad influence!" Kazu begins to giggle, "You're all a bad influence on me!!" Emi points at herself, "Except Mama, right?" "Especially Mama!" Emi looks away dejectedly, "Oh is that so...." Sougo starts to laugh, "Hahaha!!!" "Shaddup!" Emi pounces on Sougo which starts a huge fight. Kondo puts Kazu on his shoulders and starts laughing, "What a nice way to start a day!" Hijikata scowls as he tries to find the best way to pull the two apart, "Stop fighting already, brats! Don't make me get involved!" Emi and Sougo stop and look at Hijikata, "Hijikata-San, do you want to get involved?" "Yeah Hijikata, would you like to get involved?" "Wh-what? Why are guys looking at me like that?" They both grab him and drag him into the fight. An hour later, Emi and Kazu walk home. Emi has a bandage on her cheek and a wrap on her left fist. "Mama, Uncle Kondo said you guys are the best thing that has happened to him.." "Is that so? Well I guess the same goes for me." "Mama am I the best thing that has happened to you?" Emi softly smiles, "You and Papa are the best thing that has happened to me." Kazu looks at the ground, "Is Papi going to be home soon?" Emi tilts her head, "Hmmm soon, but don't worry. When he comes home I'll make sure to make a really yummy meal." "All the food you make is yummy though!" Emi starts to giggle, "Thank you, Kazu."

"Soup! Soup! Soup!" Emi pets Kazu's head, "Yep yep, soup! Now eat up." Kazu looks at his bowl then back at his mother, "Mama this isn't Hijikata Special..." Emi drops the spoon in her hand and lifelessly stares at her son, "Hi-Hi-Hijikata Special?! Why would you want to eat that?!" "Huh? 'Cuz it tastes yummy!" "EHHHHHH!!! What did that monster do to your tastebuds!!" "Mama it isn't that bad???" Emi hugs her child and silently cries, "....you poor child....what have i done to you..." "Mama, your fake cry is ugly." "Well you're the one making me cry like this." Kazu tries to wiggle out of her arms but it only causes her to tighten her hold. "GAHHH!! Woman you're crushing me!!!" "Shaddup and accept my love!" Their playful fight is interrupted by the front door opening, "I'm home!!!" The two look at the person and happily run into his arms. "KAMUI!!!" "PAPI!!!" He returns the hug as he squeezes them closer, "Did'ya miss me that much?" Emi nods her head, "Yep and no matter how many times you ask that question it will always be the same." "Papi, I missed you thisssss much!!!" "Wow that's a lot! Is it that bad? Maybe I should return sooner." Emi kisses Kamui's chin, "Don't worry, you left me with something that will never leave me lonely." Kazu begins to nod off in his father's arms, "....I'll keep Mama company..." Emi pets his head and smiles, "Will there ever be a time that you won't have to leave for a long period of time?" Kamui kisses the top of her head, "Yeah and by then it'll be me, you, Kazu, and maybe one more little pair of feet." "I think I'd like that then." "Good because it's going to happen. There's no if about it. So when I give the signal then that's when it'll happen." Emi tilts her head, "What's the signal?" Kamui passionately kisses her, "This is the signal." Emi begins to chuckle as Kamui drags the three of them to the futon.
I've always wondered to myself.... Was being with Kamui dangerous or just plain stupid? And now I've finally gotten an answer to this question... It was just plain stupid! I'm lying though, to be honest it was straight out love for him. And now for the rest of my life, I get to be by his side with our adorable little son! This is Rumi Emiko, signing off!~
