Meant to Be

Chapter 12

"What are you doing here, Ezio? How did you find me?" I asked the man in front of me as my tears slid down my cheek. I tried to sit up to escape but, again, failed because of my belly. Ezio offered me his hand down at me and he looks gorgeous as ever. His tousled hair and handsome face never fails to send women down at their knees. I hesitated for a nanosecond but I accepted his hand to help me get up. I tried to pull my hand away but his hand is stronger than mine and he hugged me so tight that I can't breathe.

"I'm glad I found you, Dan. Glad is an understatement though." Ezio said shakily and to my surprised, he is crying on my shoulder. 

"Let go of me. I don't want you to be here." I struggle to get of his hold but failed. He just tighten his arms and gently rock our bodies.

"I don't want to let you go, Dan. I know I fucked up our lives and I need you to give me another chance." Ezio pleaded and he let go of me and looked at me. His face wet because of his tears and her eyes are like . . . empty.

"Ezio, I gave you another chance. I don't think I can anymore." I explained and his shoulders sag. 

"I know, I know. I'm trying to fix this Dan."

"How about Lila and her baby?" Just the thought of Lila made me want to puke at him.

"Her baby is not mine. That kid's father is Lila's 'close friend." 

We stared at each other for a long time and it is shocking to feel comfort at his presence. I feel safe whenever he's around and I guess it will never change. 

"I need to go home." I told Ezio.

I started to walk away from him but he just followed me.

"You should probably go to your place and do something important rather than follow me." I said as I walk faster, wishing he can leave me alone.

"Yes, I need to go somewhere important and that's where you will go. I found you and I will never leave your side again." 

"I signed the divorce papers and left you, I'm sure you get the message." I snapped back.

"I know and those will not stop me to fix this and win you back. I will not give up on us, Dan. I promise you that." Ezio said and walked fast to catch up on me. I glared at him but he just smiled at me and reached for my hand. Finally giving in, I relaxed beside him and let him follow me to my own place. When we reached my building, I faced him and I can see his expectation that I will let him in. That is definitely not happening. 

What in the hell is happening to me and I kept on giving him mixed signals.

"You can go now, Ezio." I told him. Expecting him to go away, I turned around to go in but he held my hand tighter in his.

"I told you, I will never let you go now that I found you." He said firmly. 

"What? So you will stay here?" I asked.

"Yes, if possible."

"No, not possible. Please, go. I want to rest now." I plead

"I will go, for now. I come back here tomorrow. If you're not here, I'll just wait until you come back."  He said sombrely. 

"You don't have to wait. Just come here tomorrow, nine in the morning. We will go to my doctor." Did I just said that? I swear I saw his face lit up and hugged me. We stayed like this for a while until he gave me another kiss on my cheek and left.

As I opened the door of my building, Karlos is there waiting and a brow accusingly raising at me.

"Can you explain what just happen out there?" He asked.

What a great night to end this day.
