"What the hell is wrong with him?!" Amelia paced back and forth in front of me and Dr. Henry Ardelean, whose name I found out from his name tag. He might've forgotten to introduce himself. But on the other hand, Amelia is really annoyed for some reason after the man left. "He can't leave his mate unguarded!"
Oh... So that's why.
"Who was that?" She stopped from her pacing and faced us as she gripped on the end of the bed angrily.
"That, Heath, was the savior who did that to your back." She hissed as she pointed at me referring to the wound on my back. "And he just left you in our hands with threats roaming around." Her teeth gritted in anger.
"I thought a werewolf saved me." I stared at her with brows furrowed in confusion. "Wait. He's a werewolf, isn't he?" I stared at her in realization.
"They prefer the term lycan." She said in a happy manner but her expression changed again. "Selfish. Lycans." Her voice increased in anger then she continued pacing back and forth.
"Is it just me or does she really hate werewolves?"
"Lycans!" Amelia hissed then continued her frustration. I stared back at Henry.
"She heard that?" I whispered again, glancing at Amelia who might've heard me again. Henry just nodded and leaned in to whisper.
"Let's just say she has a long history with werewolves, specifically lycans." He leaned back and I gave him an understanding look. I'll just ask her later then. She finally stopped and walked to my side then sat on the bed facing Henry.
"Do you think more will come?" She leaned in, frustration written on her face.
"It's been three days since their last attack so I doubt it." Amelia looked relieved.
"What happened the past three days?" I asked in concern feeling the need to know about the matter.
"Werewolves have been eyeing you the past few days and we don't know why. For the time being there are no threats that's saying they are after you but we rather not let the council hear this." Dr. Henry sighed. "Things become too messy when they're involved."
"Are... are they still out there?" I asked, worry noticeable in my tone.
"Blake dealt with them..." Amelia made an annoyed sound. "...in rage." She continued. "Killing each and every one of them, not even leaving one to interrogate. Some where members of minor tribes, and now they're mad at him." Amelia was too busy glaring at my sheets. Just enough time for Henry to whisper in a rush.
"They're not dead. Just severely injured to the point of death."
"Who's Blake?" A slam echoed throughout the room making me flinch in surprise. "What is up with people and slamming the room?! It's even a wonder how that girl is still sleeping!" I yelled as I pointed at the sleeping girl opposite to my bed.
"She's... in a coma, Heath." Amelia interrupted making me stop and consider what she said.
"Oh..."
"You should tell him that then..." She whispered as she pointed at the man who walked towards us. It was the man from earlier. "And that's Blake. Your soon to be—"
"Shut it. He must leave." He said sternly only staring at Amelia, completely ignoring my presence. Did he notice that I'm attracted to him? I can't say that I like him I was just... distracted by his good looks and tall stature. Not to mention his body. "The pack found out. They'd be after him."
"You protect him then. He is yours, Blake." Amelia said not looking at Blake. She fixed the blanket on my lap. "You should rest. Your wound reopened."
"You know I'd do that unconsciously." Blake answered after observing her actions.
"Then why'd you have to tell me that?" Amelia finally turned to him but now amused. As if not expecting his answer.
"I'd want you to take him back. Take him far away. Anywhere away from here—oh, shit." Blake stopped midsentence and acted cautiously. "She's here..." He stared somewhere then at me. I saw a flash of concern in his eyes but only for a second. "Hurry. Take him away." Blake clenched his jaw as he grabbed my arm making me wince as the skin on my back stretched near the wound, reopening it.
"Take who away now, dear?" A gentle voice said and it took all of our attention. Blake cussed as he sat next to me, surprising me with his next actions. He leaned in and his left hand moved to my right side and caressed my cheek, and at the same time his lips touched the area where my neck and shoulder met on my left.
"I'm sorry." He whispered near my ear as a woman in a tribal looking dress showed up. He leans back and faces her, not even moving from his spot. Not even noticing how uncomfortably red he just made me look. But no one seemed to mind when Amelia and Doc stood and smiled at her. A forced one but she didn't seem to notice.
"Bonnie." Doc acknowledged her with his fear-stained tone.
"What are you doing here?" Blake said in rather annoyed tone unlike the angry one I was expecting.
"A little bird told me something." She smiled. She was beautiful. And her beautiful tan skin made her more beautiful.
"Told you what?" Blake sighed as his hand slipped on my thigh possessively. I stared at his hand widely as it squeezed and stroked just above my knee, making me bite inside my lip in thought. I stared back at my fingers that played with the hem of blanket on my lap. What is he doing?
"That the chief has found his mate." Bonnie answered, making me look up at her as she smiled, tilting her head for a second and held eye contact with me.
"Really?" Blake smiled. "Congratulations to your chief then. Did you just come here to say that?" I turned to Amelia just to catch her staring at me too. I gave her a confused look and she just shook her head gently and unnoticeable as possible, signaling me to cal down although I am.
"Oh, Blake." Bonnie sighed. "Is it not weird to congratulate yourself? Hmm?" Her calmness is scaring me. "So he must be the mate they say?" She said walking closer to see me, making Blake stand up and walk a few steps away. His hand away from my thigh made me feel wary of the woman. "Indeed." She says as she stared deeply into my eyes, making me uncomfortable. "You are what they're talking about." She lifts her hand up for a shake. I hesitated before taking it. "I'm Bonnie, Blake's older sister. And you are?" His sister?
"I'm Heath." I peeked behind her to see Blake looking somewhere distant. Was I expecting something? I realized I got lost in my thoughts when I felt my arm pulled towards her and the next thing I knew was I am on her shoulder. I cried out at the pain it caused my back as I felt my wound reopen. Amelia and Henry abruptly stood. "Wh-what the hell, man?!" I choked on my cry. I could feel my wound tearing open. I could barely struggle without hurting my back.
"Bon, what are you doing?" I heard Blake say cautiously making me look at him. He caught my eyes pleading for help for a second yet he broke contact and glared at Bonnie. "Let him go." I see his face contort as his features slowly shifted. Sideburns grew on him as his pupils readjusted. His brows furrowed and his teeth grew sharp fangs. He growled when we made eye contact.
"We found the pack's strength. Why would I do that now, little brother?" Bonnie said in her happy tone. "You've already involved him ever since you've claimed him." I heard a soft growl from Bonnie and my eyes grew in realization. She's also one of them.
"Guys, guys. Calm down." I heard Amelia making me turn to her.
"Amelia." I gasped and my voice shaky for some reason. A dark atmosphere made me shudder. And it didn't surprise me to feel that it came from Blake.
