Chapter 2

Max walked me to form, gave me a gentle hug, then walked off to his form… late. I walked into the room and went to the back, taking my seat next to Dom.

“Miss Mckenzie, do you mind telling me why you’re late?” Mr Wilson looked at me annoyed, punctuality has always been top priority for him.

“I was upset, so I was talking to someone” I simply replied, keeping my voice at one tone.

“And why exactly were you upset?” his face softened slightly, but still held his signature glare.

“Harry’s in a coma.” I responded, low and monotone, looking down at the paper I was doodling on.

Well that shut him up. He looked at me shocked and a little embarrassed then turned his head away from me so I couldn’t see his expression. I felt someone tugging at my blazer so looked to see the culprit. Dom.

“You sure you’re alright?” he asked me looking concerned. He was always looking out for me.

“I’m fine honestly, I just don’t want to think about it today. One minute of just thinking of him like that is enough” I replied, tears pricking my eyes.

“Well, I’ll cheer you up!” he commented enthusiastically, a huge smile growing on his face.

Throughout form, Dom sat there, making goofy faces and telling stupid jokes that weren’t even funny, just to make me smile. I couldn’t stop laughing at him, and by the end, he looked more smug than ever before. But I didn’t care… he’d helped me be happier in that moment.

Soon break came and I walked with Dakota and Stacey to the hallway, laughing and smiling the whole way. Upon reaching the benches outside the Gym, my spirits were slashed as I saw Henry standing there… the one person who I didn’t want to see.

“Well, hello there Kara” he said with a wink.

Dakota and Stacey didn’t see me stop, so went to sit down.

“What do you want Henry?” I asked annoyed, gritting my teeth.

“Oh nothing, just a quick chat with my best friend is all” he replied, shrugging.

“I’m not your best friend Henry” I said his name with venom “not even your friend so I would appreciate you leaving me alone!”

“Now where’s the fun in that?” he replied smirking at me.

Slowly, he began walking towards me, amusement clear in his eyes as he saw me attempting to back away from him. However, soon I was up against the wall, his hands either side of my head.

“Leave me alone” I snarled, trying to push him away by his chest.

“Why would I want to do that Kara? I have you right where I want you…” he looked at me in a way I couldn’t explain. Pleasure? Enjoyment?

He leaned his head towards me, his eyes trained on my lips the entire time. I took this opportunity to push him as hard as I could, and it worked. He stumbled back, surprised, and ended up falling backwards. Laughter erupted around us and I couldn’t hold it in.

Clutching my stomach I leaned forward to try and calm myself. It didn’t work at all. Henry pulled himself up, his face going redder than I have ever seen anyone’s go before and stormed off, but not before turning to glare at me.

After I had fully calmed to myself (well, as much as I could) I went to sit with my friends. I looked at them looking so serious… and we all went into fits of laughter.

“That was one of the funniest things I had ever seen Kara! Please do a reply of that sometime” Lucas said between giggles.

“No problem, wouldn’t mind seeing it myself if I’m completely honest” A smile made it’s way onto my face.

“Then look no further people!” Stacey shouted. We all looked at her confused. “Guys, I recorded it! No chance I was missing that!”

We all crowded round her I-phone and watched the video repeatedly throughout break until we couldn’t possibly laugh anymore…

History is possibly the most boring class I have ever had the chance to sit through. I had to put up with an hour of learning about different peace treaties between countries… best time in the world!

After the 6 hour-long torture called ‘school’, we were set free. We all decided we would go to Starbucks for a drink and a chat, so when the bell went I began to walk towards my locker, where we were meeting. I saw Dom there grinning at me and was confused as to why there was a huge grin on his face.

“Hey Kara!” Dom shouted before running towards me and tackling me into a massive bear hug.

“Woah Dom! Calm it, what’s got you so cheery?” I asked him with a laugh.

“Your smile” he told me with a wink, making me giggle.

“Course Dom” I rolled my eyes at him and shoved his shoulder playfully. I walked past him to go to my locker where Dakota, Stacey and Lucas were waiting patiently.

“Hey guys!” I greeted them with a big grin and Dom put his arm around my shoulder.

We walked down the hall and out the doors, setting off for our little get together.

When we reached the coffee shop, we went to the big table at the back. Well, Dom and Lucas ran so they could get there before anyone else… any of the other 2 people.

It was so much fun, laughing and joking, just forgetting about anything and relaxing. All I needed was a day out with the friends to cheer myself up.

… I really should start on the list soon.
