Zonnique hoped out of her car and ran quickly up to the doorstep. Skipping up the front porch stairs, she banged on the door hard as she impatiently waited for an answer.

"Come on. Come on." She rushed as she continued to bang on the door.

Within a few more seconds, the door swung open. A sleepy Rayan stood at the doorstep rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

"Niq Niq? What the hell are you doing here at this time of night?" Rayan questioned.

He paused as he looked at her. Misery and tears filling her eyes as her eyeliner ran down her cheek from crying earlier.

"What's the matter?" He inquired.

"It's Z-Zo-ey." She struggled to say. "He's c-crazy. H-he's t-ry-ing to k-ill me."

"Whoa, wait. What do you mean?" Rayan questioned. Zonnique couldn't even answer the question before she started crying even harder.

Rayan pulled her into his home, closing the door behind him, and hugging her tightly as she sobbed into his chest. He walked her to the sofa and they both sat, Zonnique still in his arms.

"What did you do?" He asked.

"Nothing. I just told him that I was tired and wanted out of the relationship." She cried in his arms. "Then he went ballistic and pulled a gun out on me and threatened to kill me."

Rayan shook his head. He knew their relationship was dangerous and it killed him inside at the fact that he didn't do anything about it. It killed him at the fact that he told Zonnique a long time ago and she wouldn't listen and now look where she is.

"Please don't say I told you so. I know I should've listened to you before, just please. Don't say I told you so." She said lifted her head from his chest.

"Zonnique, I would never say that." Rayan said.

"I don't know what I'm going to do Ray. I can't go back home or he'll probably kill me in my sleep."

"Who said you had to go home. You're staying here tonight." Rayan said.

"I can't stay here. I come here every time we get into it. If anything, this is the first place he'll look."

"Well where else are you going to go? Huh? There's no where else."

"But Zoey is going to find me!" Zonnique whined.

"It doesn't matter because you're here with me now. I'll protect you in any way I can."

Zonnique hesitated for a moment. A reassuring smiled raised upon Rayan's face. Zonnique smiled back and hugged him tightly.

"Thank you so much. You're always here for me."

"Yeah, I am. I'll go lock the back doors and turn on the alarm system. You can go ahead and get ready for bed." Rayan demanded.

"Okay." Zonnique nodded. Rayan got up from the sofa to make his was into the back of the house. Just then, the phone rang.

"Hey, can you get that?" He asked, shouting from the back.

"Sure." She replied without hesitation. "Hello?"

"You thought you could get away from me? You thought you could just leave and me not know where you were headed?" A voice said.

"Zoey?" Zonnique asked, her voice shaking. "Is that you?"

"You thought that you could just kick me and leave? DID YOU REALLY THINK THAT?!" He yelled at her. Tears instantly began stinging her eyes.

"Zoey please. I'm sorry-"

"Fuck that sorry shit! It's too late."

"ZOEY!" Her voice cracked but managed to spit out.

"You better run." With that, he hung up.

"Hello? Hello? Zoey? Hello, Zoey?" Zonnique said into the phone, but the line went dead.

Without thinking, she slammed the phone back on the hook. Getting up from her seat, she grabbed her purse and headed for the door. Closing the door quietly so Rayan wouldn't hear, she ran off to her car. Hopping into the drivers seat, she sped off without even putting on her seat belt.

Speeding off into the night, Zonnique wasn't sure where she was going and yet, she continued to drive.

Zoey's voice echoed in her head over and over. "If I can't have you, nobody can." "You better run." She couldn't take it anymore. Her eyes began to water once again. Although her vision blurred from the tears that have yet to leave her eyes, she continued to drive over the speed limit.

Closing her eyes and quickly blinking to remove the standing tears from her eyes, she tried to clear her vision to see her surroundings, but it was too late. She slammed into something hard causing her car to blow up on impact.

She no longer had to worry about Zoey killing her, for she had killed herself.
