Chapter 11

Remus

The afternoon following the children's departure slips by quickly. Not much else has gotten done. Mostly relaxing. Tomorrow, now that we don't have to worry about them nosing around, is going to be full of planning. Mad-Eye told me earlier that the next few months are going to be full of hard work and stealth missions. So tonight we might as well enjoy ourselves.

"I'm going to miss them." Sirius sighs dropping into his kitchen chair. "Won't we all?" Tonks says in return. She looks almost as depressed as Sirius. I sigh as the rest of the party enter the room.

"Well," Molly puts her hands on her hips. "What would you all like for supper?" "Meatballs?.." Kingsley volunteers. Molly's meatballs are Kingsleys favourite.

"Butterbeer and firewhiskey ." Sirius says dully. Molly glares critically at him. "Now Sirius, don't start this again, we are not having just butterbeer and firewhiskey. You're welcome to drink as much as you feel fit after supper."

"Now if no one else has any suggestions, I'll start cooking meatballs." She finishes. "I have no objection, meatballs sound wonderful." I say. "Alright then." Molly heats the cauldron over the fire with a flick of her wand and starts chopping vegetables.

"Is it alright if my mum and dad come for supper?" Tonks asks. "Yes of course dear, go right ahead and tell them to come round." Molly says food flying all around her. "Anyone care to escort me?" She says glancing around the room. Her eyes find mine. "Well," "Er... Well, I-I gue-sure." I finally say.

"Alright then," She says with a grin. "We'll be back with my parents in a bit." She says to Molly before dragging me out the door. "Err... Tonks?" I grin at her. "Since when did you need an escort?" I ask with a chuckle.

"Oh well you see it is fairly late and I do tend to be forgetful, and clumsy, and I just though maybe you would like to get away from all the commotion." I laugh. "Well, I can certainly escort you to your house."

She grabs my hand as we walk outdoors. The cool air swirls through the air rustling the newly fallen leaves throughout the street. "Hope you don't mind side-along apperation." She says real quick. In about two seconds I feel the all too familiar tug of the magic transporting the both of us.

"Come on wolf boy." She says as she runs ahead of me.We just arrived in front of her house and she's already halfway to the door. "What good is an escort you leave in the dust? And please don't call me wolf boy..." I say running to catch up to her.

"Well sorry," she looks back at me still running. "Tonks!" She trips over her own feet slamming into the front door on her way to the ground. I hear Tonks groan as I reach her.

"See what happens when you split your attention and ditch your 'escort'." I say critically teasing her. "Ha. Ha." She manages. "Real funny Remus. Now help me up." I lift her up gingerly placing her on her feet. "You can stand right?"

"Yeah I can manage, I'm used to this." She says stepping towards the door. "I'll get it." I say opening the door for her. It pains me to see her in this state. Her being in the Order I've been around her plenty. I've seen my share of falls and silly stunts from her but hearing her say it... "I'm used to this" it hurts me.

"Mum! Dad!" Tonks shouts through the house. "Ugh..." She mumbles. I follow her to the living room where she sits down on the sofa. "Is there anything you need? Anything I can get for you?"

"Oh hush it Remus I'm fine. Go find my dad and tell him about supper will you?" She says to me. "Alright." I walk outside and around to the back of the house.
