Chapter Six

*Kyler*

"Zane?" I called in the big tower
"Kyler?" He called back
"Y-yea can I come up?" I asked
"Of course!" He replied
"I- can I stay here tonight?" I asked a she walked up to me
"What's wrong?" He asked pulling down my scarf to see the tears falling down my face
"Nothing-" he cut me off
"There's something," he said
"I- did you know that Dante has a son?" I chol on my words
"He has a son?!" He looked shocked
"Wit Nicole," I sighed
"What?! How old?!" He asked
"Almost two years," I said
"Oh my Irene Kyler, I'm so so sorry," he said hugging me
"I wasn't good enough," I said
"Hey! Don't ever say that! You are the most amazing person I have ever met, you are incredible." He said pulling away and looking into my eyes
"C-can I just sleep here tonight?" I asked
"Yes, you know where the extra rooms are," he half smiled at me
"Thank you," I said walking to one of them.

"Zane?!" A familiar voice called as we sat on the thrones talking
"Who's there?" He called
"It's Laurence, and Garroth!" My brother yelled
"Come up," he shouted back
"Kyler, thank Irene, we were worried about you," Laurence said running up to me and hugging me
"I can take care of myself," I said quietly
"Dante told us what happened," Garroth said looking at me with sorrow
"Great. Just perfect." I said sarcastically
"You do know he really does love you right?" Laurence said
"Obviously I wasn't good enough for him," I said
"You were dead Kyler, he tried to move on," Garroth said
"Yes I know, am I'm glad he did. But his son, can walk and talk, he's at least two years old. I know that because he told me. The day you kissed me up in the tower and left and had sex with Nicole. He didn't trust me enough to wait for me to explain. He didn't trust my word." I said trying to stay calm
"W-we didn't know that," Laurence said quietly
"This is all my fault," Garroth said
"No, it's not. It's Dante's fault. He's the one who didn't trust me, he is the one who didn't believe that I loved him, even though I had told him I did. He treated me like I was nothing, he just gave up on me. I wasn't enough for him." I said
"I'm beating him up," Laurence said placing his hand on his sword, his eyes turning red
"Laurence no. Let him be sorry for what he did on his own. I don't want to cause any more harm," I said
"What do you mean cause harm?" He asked and I looked down at my hands
"Things change. People change." Was all I said
"What do you mean?" He asked
"Just forget it, I'm guessing you want me to come back to the village?" I asked
"Yea, Aphmau wants to talk to you," he said and I nodded.

"Lady Aphmau," I said as she opened her doors
"Hi Kyler," she smiled at me
"I'm going to just get straight to the point. I want you to be my guard, again," she smiled
"I'm guessing Fifth in command?" I asked
"No, second." She smiled and I was shocked
"W-what?!" I asked
"You are very powerful, and I trust you a lot. I do trust your brother a lot too. He would be third in command now, I just fear that his Shadow Knight powers are making him angrier and angrier and I don't want anything bad to happen. You always seem to calm him down so I think it'd be better," she smiled
"Does Laurence know?" I asked
"Yes, and he's very proud of you," she said
"Then, yes, I'll be your guard," I smiled
"Perfect, we still have your old armor if you want it," she said
"Thanks," I smiled as I left.

I wanted people to see my huge smile, but the scars were still too noticeable.

I walked inside the guards tower. Dante was leaning against one of the walls talking to Laurence.

"Where's my armor?" I asked Laurence
"Why? You aren't a guard?" Dante asked confused
"Actually she's second in command now," Laurence smiled at me
"W-what." He whispered confused
"It's upstairs, I got it ready for you " he smiled
"Thanks," I said going over to climb up the latter
"Wait so are you not a guard anymore?" Dante asked Laurence
"No, I'm still a guard, im third in command, now you're fourth," he said
"Oh," I heard him say before I got to to the top.

I looked at the armor on the stand. I took it off and slipped it on over my clothes.

I held out my hand and my white sword appeared in it. I smiled at climbed back down the latter.

"Where's Garroth?" I asked the two boys
"Probably by the gate, but Kyler-" I cut Dante off
"Thanks," was all I said before exiting the tower.

I began walking towards the from gate. When I got over there I looked up to see Garroth standing on the wall.

"Hey," I said climbing up and standing next to him
"Hey," he smiled at me
"Guess who's Second in command now," I smirked under my scarf
"Uh Laurence," he chuckled
"Nope, you're looking at her," I said and he looked shocked
"Wait- has Laurence quit?!" He asked
"No no no, he's third in command now. Aphmau thought it'd be best if I was second," i said
"Oh wow, congratulations. Is Laurence mad?" He asked
"Not that I know of, he seemed proud," I said
"What about Dante? Was he moved down to fourth?" He asked
"Yea. He's probably mad but oh well," I sighed and he nodded.
