Chapter Fourteen

*Kyler*

~Continued Flashback~

"I'm sorry," his face softened
"N-no," I said as began to walk towards me
"Don't tell me what to do," his voice angered again
"Please don't hurt me," I said as I backed into the wall.

He walked closer until he was pinned up against me. His ocean blue eyes staring into my soul.

"I won't hurt you as long as you do what I say," he placed his hands on my hips and leaned in.

There was nowhere for me to go. I couldn't pull away. I couldn't run. I couldn't fight back.

"So he sexually assaulted you?" He asked and I nodded my head a bit
"Kyler would you believe me if I said all those people were illusions. People made to look like your friends," he asked
"I- I don't know," I shrugged a bit
"Did they take your powers?" He asked and I nodded again
"How?" He asked
"They drained all my emotions, the only thing I felt was fear, but soon I just stopped feeling. It sounds hard, but I just didn't care anymore, I didn't think I'd be found. So I gave up. Everyday someone- a new friend- would show up and hurt me in a different way. Dante always came though. Every day. I had no desire to fight back, I passed out one day and then when I woke up I was in the carriage on the way back here. They told me my powers were gone." I said
"Why'd they let you go?" He asked
"They didn't need me anymore," I shrugged
"Hunter!" Emmalyn burst through my door
"Yes?" He stood up looking at her
"I got it!" She panted holding up a book
"To help Kyler?" He asked and she nodded while flipping through the pages.

To help me with what?

Hunter quickly read the pages and then looked at me.

"You have to say this and then kiss her?" He asked Emmalyn looking to her
"Well I don't have to, you do," she said
"What?" I asked confused
"Kyler, come here, let's go for a little walk," he smiled and I nodded and followed him.

We walked along the road and chatted a little bit. After a few minutes he stopped and grabbed my hand.

"Kyler," he said looking at me
"Yes?" I said curiously
"Who are you, we're in this woe. Go back to the person we used to know." He said before leaning down and connecting our lips before I could pull away.

*Dante*

As I exited the plaza I saw two figures out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look.

There they were, making out. My- no- she's not mine- Kyler, and Hunter. Nicole was right.

I quickly walked off but switched directions. Instead of going to my house I was going to hers.

"I told you," she sighed
"I just- I thought maybe things could go back to normal," I put my face in my hands.

She placed her hand on my back and rubbed in circles.

"Listen, you're better off without her, imagine, you both get married to each other and then you have a kid. Will it be half demon? How do you know it won't kill you?!" She said
"You're acting like Kyler is the devil." I said
"Well-" she started
"And she's not. She tries her hardest to do the right thing, it's people like you who bring her down-" she cut me off as I stood up
"Dante, that's not what I meant. She's a descendant of Lady shadow. How do we know her children will be like her? What if they aren't as nice as Kyler?" She said placing her hand on my chest
"A- and aren't we enough for you?" Her voice cracked a bit.

A sudden rush of guilt washed over me. I closed my eyes and saw little Dimitri running around. Nicole and I sitting on a bench laughing.

"I-" I didn't know what to say
"Dante, I love you," she said as a tear gently slid down her face.

I brought my hand up and wiped it away. I then leaned down and kissed her gently.

Kyler.

She moved on.

She loves you. And only you.

No. She loves Hunter.

She loves you.

Disgusted at my own thoughts I pulled away from Nicole, her eyes looked up at mine.

I closed mine before opening them again and jogging out of her house. I don't know what I'm doing with my life.

I slowed my jog to a walk. I looked down at the rocks I was kicking as I walked.

"DANTE!" A voice screeched of excitement before I was tackled in a hug
"Holy mother of Irene!" I said as the body got off of me and helped me up.

I dusted the dirt of my legs and looked up. My face dropped a bit as my eyes met Kyler's.

"Aren't you afraid of me," I asked a little harshly.

*Kyler*

With all the adrenaline in my body I guess I didn't notice his disgust. I smiled and shook my head no.

"I'm back to normal! I- Emmalyn and Kenmur found a spell to help me!" I said
"So you celebrated by kissing Hunter?" He asked and I furrowed my eyebrows at first before my eyes widened
"Dante- that wasn't-" he cut me off
"That wasn't what? I don't get why you can't just be happy with me-" I cut him off
"Woah, hold on. I'm not the one who has a child with someone else. Hunter only kissed me for the spell. I don't love him that way- and I thought you'd be more excited to see me not afraid of you," she sighed
"O-oh," he said looking down
"But I guess you already moved on again," I said as Nicole ran up and slowed down when she saw me
"Dante- oh hi Kyler, you good now?" she smiled nervously
"Hi, and yea, I'll leave you two alone. He's yours now," I said to Nicole before turning on my heel and walking away.
