Chapter Thirteen

*Dante*

I nervously paced around the guards tower. Hunter was asking Kyler questions about what happened to her.

I've been waiting anxiously for over an hour now. I need to know what happened to her.

The door slowly opener and my head snapped towards Hunter's. I jogged up to him and looked at him waiting for him to tell me.

"I think everyone needs to hear this," he said and I nodded in agreement.

"So basically they mentally and physically tortured her for her powers." Hunter told us
"Mentally?" Travis questioned
"They made her believe that you guys were the ones torturing her. My guess is that they somehow knew how you all were connected to her, the closer you were to her the more they used you to torture her. I also noticed that every time she hears the word 'love' her mindset changes. She kind of goes from scared and helpless to outward and romantic." He said, making me remember last night,
"So she's scared of all of us?" Lucinda asked
"I'm not sure, we'll have to see who she is and isn't afraid of." He said
"Why isn't she afraid of you?" I asked him
"Apparently Garte doesn't know I'm connected to her, he didn't use me as an illusion," he replied
"Does she have her powers?" Aphmau asked
"I also don't know that, and if she does, she doesn't know how to use them," he sighed
"How do we get her back to normal?" Cadenza said worriedly
"I have no idea, it looks like they used some sort of hypnotizing spell. Emmalyn and Kenmur, can you look up ways to break a spell like that?" He asked
"Of coruse!" Emmalyn chirped as she pushed her glasses up and ran to her home
"I'm going to bring her out, I need you guys to stand back so she doesn't completely flip out, I'm going to have her show me who is bad and who isn't," he said leaving into the tower.

He walked out, Kyler right behind him holding his hand. I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe.

"Kyler, please point out to me who the bad people are," he said quietly to her
"Dante," she pointed first at me, my heart sinking
"Garroth, Aphmau, Laurence, Travis, Cadenza, Lucinda, Kawaii Chan, Nicole," she stopped
"anyone else?" Hunter asked and she shook her head
"So what about the rest?" He asked
"They're my friends," she replied looking at Zane, Aaron, and Katelyn
"I need to take a walk," I sighed and turned on my heel and walked quickly away
"Dante," Nicole jogged up to me
"Hm?" I replied not even glancing at her
"Things are going to be okay," she assured
"How do you know?" I turned to her my eyes watering.

She looked up at me. Her eyes filled with sorrow. She reached out and grabbed both my hands.

She looked back up at me and stood on her toes before connecting our lips. I didn't know what to do.

Thoughts of Hunter and Kyler together filled my mind. I began to kiss back, Kyler doesn't need me anyways.

We stumbled forward, she was now pinned against one of the many trees next to the road.

Kyler.

Nicole.

Kyler.

Nicole! I fought back at my conscience.

You know she still loves you. She always has. She always will.

I was disgusted at myself. I quickly pulled away from Nicole and stared at her.

"Nicole I can't-" she cut me off
"But you just were. Come on, she's afraid of you! She's obviously going to end up with Hunter," she folded her arms across her chest
"I love her. That's all that matters to me. I need to stop things before they get carried away again." I said before stepping backwards and then shaking my head
"What if I love you?" She said, I didn't know what to do
"I- can't-" I stuttered before turning on my heel and jogging away to the beach.

*Kyler*

Hunter stood in front of me. He shined a bright light in my eyes.

"Ow," I flinched covering them
"I'm sorry, I was just checking your eyesight," he apologized
"It's okay," I said timidly
"Kyler, can I ask you some more questions?" He asked
"Yes," I nodded
"What did Dante do to you?" He asked my heart skipped a beat.

~Flashback~

"Kyler! Is that you?" A familiar voice shouted.

My head snapped up. On the other side of the small rooms door I could see the blue hair I had missed so much.

"Dante," I whispered weakly trying to stand up.

The door handle jiggled. Finally the door opened. With all my strength I got up and hugged the boy.

"You came for me," I began to cry, this place was a living hell.

I didn't think I could survive one more day alone.

"Yes I did, I came to help... them." He paused me back making me stumble over
"W- what?" My voice cracked
"It's about time someone locks up a monster like you. Do you know how many people you've killed. You're dangerous," he spat staring right at me
"D- Dante how could you," I began to cry, the warm tears streamed down my cheeks
"I can't believe I once loved a villain such as yourself. Makes sense to me now why I left you for Nicole." He chuckled bringing horrible thoughts to my mind
"I- I'm not a monster," I struggled to believe my own words
"Oh Kyler, I'm sorry, come here- I don't now what I was thinking," he outstretched his arms.

In desperation I gave into him. I needed to feel something.

As his arms wrapped around me he began to softly kiss my neck. I was very confused.

"Dante- can we please leave-" I tried pulling away, I didn't want to stay another second in this place
"Leave?! Why would I let you do that!" He laughed a bit
"Didn't you come to bust me out?" I asked confused
"Oh honey no. I hate you, but at the same time I love you. I mean look at you, you're gorgeous- well not those scars but from the neck down, um with clothes on- you're great! But you're a monster." He chuckled
"I'm so confused," I stepped backwards
"I'm not here to help you, I'm here to hurt you. You're a monster, you've hurt so many people." He said
"Stop!" I yelled
"Don't tell me what to do!" He snapped before slapping me across the face.

My cheeks had a burning sensation.
My blood boiled. But I couldn't do anything.

I was too tired, too weak, and I didn't have my powers. I began to feel my eyes fill with tears again.
