"My name is Vincenzino Moore. No, I don't have a nickname nor do I want a nickname. I'm am nineteen years old," said Vincenzino. Though he said he didn't want a nickname, I thought of just calling him Vincent since it sounded more like an Earth name than Vincenzino.
"My name is Hikari Torro-" I said but was interrupted as Vincenzino began to walk away. I rolled my eyes since it was a sign of disrespect in Earth culture. Even though he's rude, he seems like a kind person, I thought to myself. In Donalone, I saw everyone with no emotion but after everything that has happened, I seemed to open these bottled up feelings a tiny bit.
"Someone seems like he's a happy camper," Daniel taunted. I ignored Daniel and watched Vincenzino walked back to his tent. It was the first real meeting I had with Vincenzino, since the first time didn't go that well. He had left in a rush after our first incident but he left some goods for us to use. When he came back, he had a whole cart full of new supplies and food. We didn't know where he got them from but we were to busy deciding on how to find Helios that we didn't even bother to ask.
"How did Earth become like this?" I questioned as I surveyed the barren land.
"People killed each other for money and power. Then little kids died because one country thinks they're better than the other. Education no longer mattered and the generation became corrupted as there were few people who actually cared about the problems in the world. We were then saved by Angels as we discovered that the ones ruining our Earth were actually Demons. The upcoming generations gradually became better," Daniel explained. His head slowly began to hang in shame as he said each sentence.
Humans, were like that? I thought gloomily.
"Please don't think of Earth badly, there were still some great things about it. We learned from our mistakes and made ourselves better. It may have took a while but we changed ourselves, also, the big problems were the Demons fault. Well, that's what I've been told but I mean, if we didn't change then I might've not been born. If I wasn't born then, who would know how to take care of your high maintenance self?" Daniel remarked.
I smiled for being able to have someone to talk to. It warmed my heart seeing someone smile or laugh because of you. After that day, we would tell each other things about our world and about ourselves. Though Adam lingered through my mind, Daniel showed me that there are friends out there for you and I was very grateful.
*Two days later
"Can I come with you, Vincent?" I asked as I followed Vincenzino to his cart. He seemed to be going off somewhere and I was curious.
"Didn't I tell you that I have no nicknames and that I don't want one either? Anyways, I don't like people coming with me, they just get in the way. Also, after this trip I'm going to leave for a new site so you should probably start leaving for someplace," said Vincenzino as he packed things into his bags.
"You can't just leave us! Daniel lost his village and doesn't know any other places around here and I'm from another world. Won't you help us?" I pleaded, without him, we would not be able to survive.
Vincenzino didn't reply and continued to pack his things as I stood there waiting. He's just like stubborn Donalonians. I know what to do with these kinds of people, I thought to myself. I grabbed one of his bags off the cart and unpack them in front of him.
"What are you doing?!" Vincenzino screeched. Jumping towards me, he took my hands off the bag. I tackled his body and twisted him so his body faced mine.
"Look, Vincent, I can call you what I want. You will take Daniel and I wherever you go until we can find Helios. You got that?!" I yelled in his ears. All my reason seemed to vanish when I thought of the possibility Daniel and I would've been stranded alone. I couldn't think of any other way to make him take us.
"You think I'm scared of you? You're just some girl, all you can do is talk and cook," Vincenzino spat.
I went beserk. I smashed his face into the floor and almost tore off his limbs. Then Vincenzino hurled me to my back and slapped my face. That's when I lost all control. I grabbed his hair and ripped parts off then I grabbed rocks and pounded them into his face. He seemed to lost control as well since he began to grab his bags and punched my face with them. The fight would've gotten worse if Daniel hadn't stopped it and took the both of us as far away from each other.
"That stupid ignorant boy said that all girls could do is talk and cook! Hell no, I never even cooked before because my cooking was so bad!" I yelled into Daniel's face as he tried to clean my wounds.
"The last sentenced made no sense. Are you sure you don't need some rest?" Daniel persisted. I shook my head and he cleaned up a nasty wound on my knee. Even though, I felt resentment toward Vincenzino for what he said, I was slightly impressed with his fighting skills.
*Four days later
My butt began to hurt and then it became sore. The pain ceased to matter since I was more focused on watching the sky. First it was polluted muck then it became a breath taking starry sky like the one in Donalone. The sky was a deep violet with twinkling stars shining in every space I look at. Then the one single moon, that was following us everywhere that we went on the cart, it almost seemed to smile at us.
Miraculously, Vincenzino agreed to take us with him as long as we didn't bother him. Sadly, not bothering him meant not talking or making any noise. Since Daniel and I had to sit next to each other for the whole ride, he tried to talk to me by mouthing the words but I would end up just grinning for how ridiculous he looked.
My eyelids kept drooping but I didn't want to sleep. The scenery was right for a goodnight story with the stars whispering gently into my ear and Daniel putting a warm blanket on top of us. Without realizing it, I gave in to my tiredness and slept on top of Daniel's shoulder.
What's this noise? It's high and resonating with my ears. Now it's low, it won't stop changing pitches but it sounds... so wonderful. I can't find words to describe this feeling. This thing, this feeling is making me want to cry but not of sorrow but of happiness? Passion? Now, I hear humans' voices, but there's no words just a noise from the voices. They're not talking, yet the voices are like something unreachable. I don't want this to end. This sound... is this music? Music is unheard of back in Donalone but they say it's something that evokes emotions out of you that is indescribable. This is indescribable, and I never want it to end.
"Hikari! Wake up! Something's wrong! You're glowing!" Daniel screeched in my ears.
"What do you mean I'm glo-" my voice faded away as I saw my hand glowing right before my eyes. Without a second wasted, I touched my back and grab something. That's when I realized, I didn't grab my hair, I grabbed feathers.
I jumped out of the cart, which was in motion, and I began to run as fast as I can. I don't stop to wonder how I'll work my wings. I felt them spread out and as my momentum peaked, I took a huge leap into the air. I was at least fifty feet in the air. My eyes closed shut, ready for me to fall any second but what I didn't realize was that I was in the arms of someone in air.
Someone I'd never expect; Vincenzino.
