Zoro x Reader - Love Stays

You walked around the familiar surroundings of Sabaody, however some things have changed while you were last here 2 years ago. Everyone was in a hype, talking about the Straw Hat pirates coming back and recruiting new members. You didn't think much of it since you knew your captain liked to recruit a lot, especially weird creatures like 3 headed dogs or talking zombie trees.

But 2 years was a long time. You might not even recognize the crew. They could have changed their appearance, maybe even have gotten stronger with all that training.

But what you feared most was meeting him again.

Taking out the vivre card in your pocket, you followed where the paper directed until you arrived at Shakky's bar. You were about to head inside but collided with a blonde male as he ran out.

"Ah, please forgive me-" He immediately helped you up then paused, staring at your face with his jaw dropped. "(N-N-NAME)-CHWAAAAN?!"

A fountain of blood spurted from his nose and he propelled into the sky. "YOU'VE GROWN EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL~"

"Ah, Sanji, is that you?" You smiled and waved as he flew away. Then you peeked into the bar and saw only Shakky inside. You nodded in greeting to her before turning back to the male. "Hey, is Zoro around?"

Sanji came back down and grabbed your hands. "Hai, my dear~ I was just on my way to pick up that idiot~" He cooed. You giggled and followed the ship's cook into town.

The two of you asked around for the whereabouts of your nakama. (Well, Sanji tried his best to stay focused while you did most of the searching 😥) And you ended up at a fisherman's shack where the man informed you that he saw Zoro hop into a pirate ship by mistake.

"Jeez, that marimo..." Sanji sighed and took out a cigarette.

The three of you then heard some men yelling by the dock and pointing at the water. You followed where their fingers are pointing at, blinking as bubbles began to form on the surface.

"What the-?!" You gasped as a large galleon emerged from the water, sliced in half. Zoro was crouched at the top of the mast with a very annoyed expression.

"I got on...the wrong ship." He muttered to himself.

The pirates began to yell at Zoro for cutting their ship clean in two, but he didn't listen and just jumped off.

"Oi! Marimo!!" Sanji walked over to him and it didn't take too long for them to start bickering. Some things just stay the same.

"Zoro..." You smiled at the green haired man, remembering the promise you two made before you got separated.

-Flashback-

Zoro rubbed the back of his neck shyly and avoided your gaze. The beautiful engagement ring he held up to your face made you widen your eyes in surprise.

"Zoro, you-?"

"(Name), j-just be straight with me here... Yes or no?" He interrupted you and finally looked up to meet your (E/C) eyes, his cheeks tinted red with blush.

You've been dating for only a few months, but you knew that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him. Eagerly nodding, you screamed out "YEEEEESSS!!" Then wrapped your arms around his neck in a tight hug.

"O-Oi, knock it off or the ring will fall!" He blushed darker and slipped the ring on your ring finger. You kissed him happily and smiled.

"Zoro, let's stay together forever~" You cooed in his ear.

"Yeah..." He chuckled.

Under the moonlit night, you both promised that you would never love anyone else and that you would never leave each other's side.

-End of Flashback-

You stared at the man in front of you with a worried frown, touching the ring on your finger.

What if he had found someone else while you were separated?

Glancing at how extremely well-built his body had gotten from his training, you felt slightly anxious about him still loving you like he said he did 2 years ago.

You looked down at your own body, seeing not a lot of change here and there. It only increased your insecurity even more.

Zoro's POV

He scoffed at the cook like he had always did and returned his insults. But he couldn't help but notice you standing behind Sanji the entire time, not saying a word to him.

Zoro felt a little hurt that you didn't run up to him and gave him one of your hugs. He honestly missed receiving those after being away from you for so long, though he'll never admit it.

The two of you made eye contact for a second before you looked away. He frowned, had he done something wrong?

Another feeling nagged at him, what if you didn't love him anymore?

Knowing what a stubborn, rude, one track minded man he is, surely you could have easily found someone better to spend your time with. And seeing how you were acting around him made him nervous.

Even though he hadn't seen you during his training, he always thought of you. He wanted to get stronger so that he would be able to protect you, unlike what happened a couple years back with the pacifista. He didn't want to lose you then, he didn't want to lose you now.

"(Name)?" He spoke up, ignoring Sanji completely and walking over to you slowly.

He glanced you over and saw that you were slightly the same as you were back then, not much had changed. Maybe your hair looked a bit different but other than that you were still his beautiful (Name) that he had loved for a long time.

"Zoro..." You said and looked him in the eyes.

He wanted to ask you if you still felt the same way, he wanted to know if you hadn't changed your mind. But he was afraid of what your answer might be.

The glimmer from the gem on your ring caught his eye and he looked at it. Seeing the engagement ring around your finger reminded him of that promise you both made: how you wouldn't love anyone but him.

"I've missed you..." The two of you mumbled in unison, causing you both to look at each other in surprise.

Zoro opened his arms invitingly and you hugged him tightly. "You've changed, Zoro." You commented as your fingers trailed up his bare, muscular chest, a smirk forming on your lips as he chuckled quietly.

"Not really." He replied and kissed your head. "I still love you all the same..."
