"Uncle James, I'm sorry," I apologized through the phone as I tried to calm my uncle down.
"You never came inside the auditorium, do you not realize how worried I was?" He practically yelled into the phone.
"My friend was in trouble. I had to do something." I said looking up at Scott as we hid behind a wall at Derek's loft.
"And where are you now?"
"I'm safe," I said quickly and then paused, "I just have to take care of something. Just please stay inside. I'll be home soon."
He was silent for a while. All I heard was his soft sigh on the other line.
"You are your mother's daughter."
I sucked in a sharp inhale and my stomach flipped upside down. Hearing that was one of the best compliments I could've ever received. It's a great honor to be compared to such a strong woman like my mom was.
Scott looked quickly at me, and I knew he had just heard what my uncle said.
"Thank you," I whispered and hung up.
I smiled up at Scott softly and he returned with a grin.
"So you're telling me that your powers didn't work on the Darach?" Stiles asked for the millionth time as we waited.
"Nope." I shook my head, "I'm not sure why though. They seemed to work on every other supernatural creature I've come across. What makes the Darach so special?" I scoffed, crossing my arms over my chest in frustration and leaning against the wall.
We had just got to Derek's loft in enough time to tell him about Ms. Blake. He told us to hurry and hide because he knew that she wasn't far behind.
"So we're basically hopeless!" Stile exclaimed flailing his arms to the side.
"We aren't hopeless," Scott sighed rolling his eyes, "She can still fight."
"We'll find him, Stiles." I stated, "I'm going to do anything I can to help...whatever it takes. I promise."
"Derek?" A voice echoed throughout the loft causing all of us to keep quiet.
My entire body tensed up as I held my breath while Ms. Blake called out for Derek in a panic.
"Right here," Derek responded monotonously.
"Oh thank god," she sighed and then continued by explaining what had happened tonight, "Something happened at the recital. At the school, alright? I need to tell you before you hear it, before you hear any of it from them."
"Who?"
"Scott, Stiles, and Elaine." She stated, "They're going to tell you things. Things you can't believe, you have to trust me, okay? Promise you'll listen to me."
Derek paused and I prayed silently that he wouldn't promise anything.
"I promise."
Silence filled the room, as Stiles, Scott and I stood in shock, unsure of what to do next.
"They're already here, aren't they?" She inquired her tone now dark and devious.
That was our cue for us to reveal ourselves. We all walked out glaring directly at Ms. Blake the moment we made eye contact with her. She returned the glare as she turned toward us while still standing close to Derek.
"So, they told you it was me? That I'm the one taking people?" She said, almost laughing.
Scott shook his head, "We told him you're the one killing people."
