The war I go through can damage me forever,
Melancholy of love and the drugs getting blurred together,
Scared, frightened of losing you,
My mind, a brick wall that it was, will break tonight.
And the night sky will be my listener.
Listening to my tales weary of them repeating themselves,
Never coming to completion.
While I have completed you and I,
So many times inside my head.
Where our story resides and grows,
Among a millions thoughts of others and foes.
Broken pieces of my heart,
Build the bridge that I walk on.
My legs; trembling in fear of whether you are still there,
at the end of my path,
Waiting with open arms and heart.
Because my own heart is falling apart,
While I build a bridge for you and I to start.
With only love and joy in mind,
Mine that comes with you by my side.
But darling we are stranded in a storm,
That has broken us down and is slowly turning us blind.
Writhing in pain and stumbling on our way,
We struggle to find and look behind that veil.
We hold our hands and squeeze a little too hard,
While the wind behind makes us sail.
Towards a destination, a place we've never seen,
A foreign land of future unknown and dread it feels.
But, it's an island build upon the pieces we both have shared,
Far away from destruction and people that we can't bear.
This is a place where I'm with you,
The place where I see you smile,
And find my home.

War On Love is a poem of two lovers who struggle and battle through their difficulties with only their connection to hold on to, and only their love to fall back to. The uncertainty of circumstances around them while painful and excruciating only strengthens their bond and brings them closer. It makes the happiness of coming out the other side safe and together even more sweet.
