Percy's POV

There was nothing like the Mess Hall. Rows and rows of benches and tables and food. Of course, food is an understatement. It was more like a gigantic feast fit for the gods sitting in the pavilion of a demigod's camp. Yeah, that's more like it.

Anyway, I was kind of angry at myself. In all of my time at camp, there's never been anyone to sit at the Poseidon table with me except Tyson, but he's rarely even here. And then I come to camp with more than a dozen people who could've easily sat next to me seeing as they didn't have a godly parent, and I SENT THEM TO SIT WITH ALL THE OTHER KIDS WHO DID HAVE SIBLINGS!!! Okay, so you can see why I'm kind of mad. But I knew they would need it. They needed to make friends who weren't me so that if I die, they'd have someone else to watch their back. Not to mention there are plenty of people here that hate them, specifically for being my friend, so... Yeah. They get to sit with tables that are practically overflowing with people. Yay?

After I sacrificed a portion of my food to the gods and convinced the Glows to do the same, Chiron called me up to give an announcement. I stopped my fork, where it was floating in the air with a perfectly good piece of steak on it. "But, Chiron," I protested, "I'm hungry." Chiron smiled like a father who needed to give tough love, "Well then, m'boy, you can eat." I sighed with relief. "After you finish telling the camp about this June." I shook my head, muttering, "Of course. As soon as I sighed, I knew something was gonna happen."

I stood and greeted the campers. "Hi," I started, "So, you all know that I'm Percy Jackson and I've brought a bunch of super-powered mortals to camp." I kinda got a mixed reaction from the crowd. I got some neutral and some 'I WANNA RIP OUT YOUR GUTS!' reactions. Not the best speech I've ever given. I gulped, "I know that some of you aren't so happy with me here. I'm not entirely happy with this myself. But as I told you before, I needed to warn you that Tartarus is rising." I held up my hand to stall the protests. "Before you yell at me that it's all garbage, I'm going to elaborate on the threat and tell you our plan of action. Because whether you believe me or not, it's not your decision. Not anymore." I watched their faces. Their angry, hungry, worried faces. "So. The Elgen are a worldwide corporation that give cheap electricity to the public. This electricity was produced by rats. Electric rats that the evil Dr. Hatch created. And Hatch also experimented with children. Newborn babies. Most of them died, but the Electroclan and the Eagles are the result of the successes. Ever since, Hatch has been turning them to his side until my buddy Michael turned them back to lead a resistance. It was a good thing that he'd started, because otherwise, Hatch would be unstoppable." Michael looked down, embarrassed, as I knew he would. "Anyway, Hatch captured me and Piper, torturing us with things only demigods would know about, thus leading me to my conclusion and his overall confession. His proclamation that after he was done with the world, he'd come after us." I swept my gaze around the room. "Don't ask me how I know, but I do know that he's arriving in June, giving us only six months to prepare. So, anyone with aggressive powers will group with people without powers, because he's fighting us with mortals, who cannot be hurt by our blades, but can be by what the gods have blessed us with. That's our plan. We'll figure the rest out as we go. Just remember. The Electroclan is to be our savior. They are our family now, too." I looked at Chiron, "Now can I eat already?"

When he nodded, I shoveled the food into my mouth. With everything going on, I hadn't had much to eat. But raising someone from the dead and beating up a guy really take a toll on a person. I looked over at the Electroclan. Ian seemed to be having fun messing around with the Hermes kids. Every so often I would see a hand casually inch towards Ian's wallet only for him to slap it away. I saw a money pool, so it must've been a game. 'Steal Ian's Wallet' would be impossible to win. So I guess my blind friend would be a very rich man by the end of dinner. Abigail, of course, was doing really well at the Apollo table. She fit right in. So well, in fact, that if I didn't know any better, I'd think she was an Apollo child herself. I saw the Aphrodite girls fussing over Taylor and Tara, drooling over Tara's designer clothes. Tessa and Nichelle seemed to have made a few friends, but overall I'd say the table didn't really want to talk to them. I was actually kind of worried about Ostin, but I saw him deep in some kind of conversation with Malcolm. He'd be alright. At the Hephaestus table, McKenna and Leo were wowing the crowd with a fire show, which wasn't really that safe for a cafeteria, but then again, it was Leo. I'd have to say that Michael and Zeus were faring the worst. Jason sent the occasional spark of lightning at Michael, trying to give him a nasty shock, but Michael just ate it right up. After that didn't work, Jason just sent them death glares, which my two friends promptly ignored. I turned back to my food, satisfied. My friends were going to live.
