//May 11, 2032. Defendant Lobby No. 5, 9:25 AM//

When I arrived in the defendant lobby, I sulked over to the couch, rubbing my eyes. I hadn't gotten much sleep the night before, so just keeping my eyes open was quite the task. I wanted nothing more than to go home and sleep in my bed. I hate being in jail...

I rubbed my eyes once again as Xoie and Yamato appeared before me. They took seats on either side of me. "Hey... You okay?" Xoie asked. "You look pretty exhausted. Did you even sleep last night?"

"I slept for about two hours. Does that count?" I answered with a heavy sigh.

"No. But don't worry. Xoie'll fix you right up," Xoie assured me. "When we go home, I'll let you sleep for as long as you want. I doubt that you'll end up stuck here for more time."

"I hope you're right. Staying in the detention center is awful," I admitted. "But it's not like I have much choice. I can't just run away."

"Remember when-" Xoie started to say, though we were cut off when Aura entered the room, Nevada at her side. Aura hadn't even come home last night because Nevada had made her spend the night at her house. I didn't understand those two at all...

"Hey," Nevada said simply. "You look tired."

"I guess I do," I shrugged. "You going to get me a guilty verdict today or what?"

"Why would you say that? No," Nevada replied. "I'm crazy, but I'm not that crazy."

"If you want the truth, I'm more worried about the defense team. The judge won't get in our way, but the defense girls... I can already tell that they aren't just going to let this case slip away from their grasp," Yamato said. "I'm a little worried about what they could drag us into today..."

"You're making them sound like bad people," Auralyn sighed.

"They are bad! They exposed me!" Nevada cried.

"Calm down, Nevada. Yelling won't do us any good," Auralyn reminded her.

"The defense team is coming, speaking of them. You two had better get out of here before they start asking questions," Xoie hissed to the pair. Nevada nodded and dragged Auralyn out of the lobby, nearly tearing her arm out of its socket.

"Here we are," Yuri declared. "And today, it all ends. We're going to be getting you a not guilty verdict."

"Did you find the killer?" I asked, fear making my heart pound louder.

"No. But we do have a few theories that could lead us to the real killer," Ms. von Graye told me.

"Only if they work out well, though," Yuri reminded her. "Don't get cocky. We haven't even started the fight."

"This sounds like some motivational speech before a huge fight in a Fire Emblem game," Xoie admitted with a giggle.

"You've never even played those," I reminded her.

"Yeah. But it has fights in it, and there's always a motivational speech before a huge fight, no matter the media form it's in," Xoie fired back. I sighed. There was no way I'd be understanding her. Not today, not anytime soon.

"We should probably get into the courtroom. The bailiffs are bound to yell for us any second now, and I personally don't like having my ears blown out," Yuri declared.

Ms. Tenniswood nodded her agreement and walked into the courtroom, the rest of us on her heels. Here's hoping this doesn't end disastrously...

//May 11, 2032. Courtroom No. 5, 10:00 AM//

When I took my seat in the defendant's  chair, the judge slammed his gavel down. "Court is back in session for the trial of Takuya Spadarona," he declared. "I trust that the investigation has brought up a few positive results?"

"Not exactly," Nevada admitted.

"OBJECTION!"

Yuri held up a plush rabbit. "We found this!" A glass shard was raised skyward next. "And this!"

"What are those?" the judge asked.

"A glass shard and a plush rabbit from a case sixteen years ago. The glass shard was used to attack a witness, and said witness held this plush rabbit. Inside, there is supposedly a knife handle," Yuri explained. "The handle to the knife used in said attempted murder."

"This is making my head spin," the judge admitted. "What do those have to do with the investigation?"

"You see, these were both found at the scene of the crime near the victim's body. We determined that he was the culprit from the unsolved attempted murder case of October 2016. This means that he's the culprit in many other cases that have been popping up lately as well," Ms. Tenniswood announced.

"So... The killer that's been killing and attacking all those people recently is...!" the judge gasped.

"The victim here," Ms. Tenniswood finished. "But that's not all that I've figured out."

"It isn't?" Nevada asked, her eyes going wide.

"You see... The victim from that case was never found. I assume that this is because the victim was far too young to have their fingerprints recognized by the police and the victim was asked to be silent by a trusted friend," Ms. von Graye explained.

"Last night, after the investigation finished, I asked the police if I could watch the video presented by yesterday's witness, Ayano Tsukasa," Ms. Tenniswood began. "I was allowed to, and I realized something rather interesting... I noticed the person that almost fell from the building roof was oddly familiar."

"What kind of familiar?" the judge asked. "I'm afraid I don't understand what you're referring to."

"I believe that the person who fell wasn't the defendant, as he was seen in an office room the time of the crime by the video footage. Instead, I'm a bit more focused on the flash of teal we saw thanks to the video," Ms. Tenniswood continued. "The culprit in this case, if you ask me, as well as the victim from sixteen years ago."

"Who do you think it was?!" the judge demanded.

"Somebody in this court, as a matter of fact," Ms. Tenniswood smirked. "In fact, the victim is one nobody would expect... Isn't that right... Ms. Auralyn Spadarona?!"
