//April 11, 2032. Courtroom No. 1, 10:00 AM//

I was worried about Victoria. She had been like this ever since the day Mr. Morix, Prosecutor Bespoke, Pieter, and Chrysalis disappeared. She would pull out the note that they had left behind for us, read it, and then try and hold back her choked sobs. I hated feeling hopeless while she cried...

The judge's slam of the gavel brought my thoughts back to reality. "Court is now in session for the trial of Delaney Kimura," he announced. "Are the defense and prosecution ready?"

"The defense is ready," Victoria cut in quickly.

"The prosecution's also ready, Gramps," Vito announced from the other side of the court. His sunglasses were down, as he was worried about Niamh. She had been going distant ever since the disappearances, too. He didn't like that since they were married now.

The judge, used to being called Grandpa by now, sighed. "Your opening statement, Prosecutor Cruz?"

Vito nodded and flicked his glasses up onto his head. "The crime was a month ago. Four people, two attorneys, a prosecutor, and a college student disappeared. They left behind a note, but it just says sorry over and over again. Anyways, we think that there's a possibility they were kidnapped, and since the defendant's fingerprints were found on the notes. There were three of them; one was at the Prosecutor's Office, one at Morix Law Offices, and one at the house of Sora Bespoke, one of the disappeared."

"T-they were only on there since I was investigating the disappearances!! My prints being on there doesn't mean anything!!" Ms. Kimura exclaimed.

"Defendant! Don't speak out of turn!" the judge yelled. Ms. Kimura sat down silently.

"We think that the notes were forged and the defendant kidnapped them all and is holding them somewhere, though she refuses to say anything about it," Vito continued.

"I see... Well, I suppose that you'll be calling your witness to the stand now?" the judge asked.

"Aye, you, Healy. Get up there," Vito announced, pointing to the stand.

Aiden ran to the stand not long after, running a hand through his brown hair.

"Name and occupation," Vito told him.

"A-Aiden Healy. I'm a detective," Aiden said in reply.

"Tell us about the case, got it?" Vito asked, messing with his scarf.

Aiden nodded. "Okay... I guess I'll be along with it."

WITNESS TESTIMONY: AIDEN HEALY- THE DISAPPEARANCES

-The four victims of supposed kidnapping were Cotoli Morix, Pieter Fury, Sora Bespoke, and Chrysalis Starr.

-They were all siblings, which could be related to why they vanished.

-They went missing on March 11th, and the police have been searching for them ever since.

-The defendant's fingerprints were found on all of the notes they left behind as a final message.

-We think that this is because she fabricated the notes to cover up got the fact that she kidnapped them for her own purposes.

"This case is going to be tough..." Victoria muttered. "Up to this point, we've only been solving murder cases..."

"I'm sure that we can find them! They'll come back right after the police find out where they disappeared to, I bet!!" I exclaimed, trying to hide the fact that my heart was pounding louder than it ever had before. Ever since I had gotten my memory back, I didn't want them to go away again. They had done something similar in my mind after I got amnesia...

"If the defense's assistant will stop spacing out, it's time for the cross-examination," the judge told us.

I looked up, soon realizing that he was talking about me. "U-um... Go on, Victoria..." I stammered nervously.

CROSS-EXAMINATION: AIDEN HEALY- THE DISAPPEARANCES

-The four victims of supposed kidnapping were Cotoli Morix, Pieter Fury, Sora Bespoke, and Chrysalis Starr.

-They were all siblings, which could be related to why they vanished.

-They went missing on March 11th, and the police have been searching for them ever since.

-The defendant's fingerprints were found on all of the notes they left behind as a final message.

-We think that this is because she fabricated the notes to cover up got the fact that she kidnapped them for her own purposes.

"OBJECTION!"

I wasn't sure what Victoria was pulling but she pulled out her copy of the note. "You think that this was a fabricated piece of evidence? All so that the culprit could escape suspicion?"

Aiden nodded. "Yes... Is something wrong?" he questioned fearfully, taking a step away from the stand.

"First of all, I did a check on the handwriting of the signatures. The body of the note was typed, but the signatures were handwritten. I did a comparison between the note and other documents signed by the disappeared and found that they match," Victoria explained.

"That still doesn't prove that the defendant didn't take them," Vito told her.

"OBJECTION!"

"Actually, it does. Why would the victims write their signatures on these papers willingly if they were being held captive? Besides, why would the defendant feel the need to capture them, if she did do it? There isn't a connection," Victoria said.

Vito paused. "I admit that there wasn't much of a link between the disappeared people and the defendant, but this case didn't leave us with much to go on. It's not often kidnapping cases like this are solved quickly, you know," he told Victoria, choosing his words carefully so he didn't end up yelling at her.

"So... You only have testimony from a detective on the case to provide to the court?" the judge asked, not at all looking impressed. Judging (get it?) by the grumpy look on his face, he was having a bad day.

"No. I have another witness to bring up to talk to the court about the potential reasons the disappeared... Disappeared," Vito told him.

"You may call your witness, Prosecutor Cruz," the judge nodded.

"The prosecution calls Lilac Starr to the witness stand!" Vito exclaimed, leaving me gasping in shock.
