Once the shock of hearing what the victim had done had worn off, then I looked down. "Could someone please explain all of this to me in detail?" I asked.

"You see, sixteen years ago, there was an attempted murder. Since the culprit escaped, nobody was put in jail for it. Ever since then, the judge and I, well... Up until his death... We suspected that he was involved since most of the rest of his family was. His son was a witness, his wife the defendant," Detective Erikson began. "We didn't have any evidence, so we had to let him go."

"What about the recent cases?" Niamh asked.

"I'm positive that the culprit from back then, now known to be Carlton Starr, killed the people involved and attacked a few who were less involved. Since the judge is already dead, he didn't have to worry about him. But with the defense attorney and prosecutor... Both were killed lately, so that must be who killed them. Same with me and Ms. Rell. We were involved with the case, though we survived," he continued.

"In that case, doesn't this mean that Ms. Starr was the next target since she was the last one involved?" Yuri asked. "She'll be so sad when she hears this... She thought her husband was an innocent little angel."

"Yeah... She probably was the next target, though I can't really say why he didn't attack her for so long. If you ask me, there's a likely chance as to why she was framed for the attempted murder back then," Detective Erikson said.

"What is it?" I questioned.

"Listen to this: Ms. Starr owns an expensive technology company, correct? Since she's made so much money, what if the victim framed her since he wanted her money for himself? He's never been good with maintaining jobs, so money would be easy to get with her as his wife," he explained.

"Well... Then there's one thing that doesn't add up," Niamh frowned.

"What do you think it is?" Yuri asked, cocking her head slightly.

"You see... Isn't it much more rational that the money goes to one other person, or rather, two other people first?" Niamh suggested. "Wouldn't the money go to Ms. Starr's children who would rightly inherit the company?"

"I've been thinking about that, too. What if that's why he attacked the young Mr. Morix? To eliminate him from the equation of potentially inheriting the company," Detective Erikson suggested.

"What about Chrysalis? Do you know where she was at the time? Or Sora or her mom? What about Pieter?" Yuri asked.

"The Lin family was traveling through China at the time, so they aren't involved. Mr. Fury hadn't been welcomed into the family yet. And as for the youngest sibling... We don't know. Maybe she was with a friend, maybe with her father as he made his escape," Detective Erikson replied. "The second possibility disturbs me, though..."

"If he did that bad stuff to the unknown victim, then it's a shock that he didn't move against her since she would also inherit the company," I said.

"What if he was going to leave her out of town somewhere to keep her out of the situation? That way, the money would be all his with his wife in jail, and as he thought at the time, his son dead from the attack on his life," Detective Erikson suggested.

"M-Mr. Morix was attacked in that case?" I asked, just making sure I had heard right.

"Yeah. With a glass shard," Detective Erikson replied.

"Didn't we see Mukuro messing with something at the crime scene? I don't really remember what it was, but it looked to be about the size of a glass shard," Niamh recalled.

"What if that was found near the crime scene as well?" Yuri asked. "More evidence against the victim."

"But why would the rabbit or glass shard be at the crime scene? It's not like he would carry them around to incriminate himself. That's a terrible option," I frowned.

"My guess is that the killer wanted to talk to him about the case from sixteen years ago, which is the only reason he brought those along with him when he was killed," Niamh suggested. "Though I do wonder... Who would want to talk to him about the crime?"

I gasped. "I just had an idea."

"What is it?" Yuri asked.

"Maybe the killer is the victim from sixteen years ago. There's a chance that they survived and attacked the victim with intent of killing him, which they succeeded in doing out of blind rage," I explained.

"That does make sense... It's not like anyone else would want to talk to him about the case," Niamh agreed.

"But wasn't there an accomplice in the case? A person with purple gloves and something teal on in addition to the one who saved them from an untimely demise," Detective Erikson said.

"That's true... But how did you know about that?" Yuri asked.

"Mukuro came by late last night and told me about the case. She hadn't found any glass at the crime scene yet, which leaves me to assume that she found it when the investigation started up again today," Detective Erikson explained.

"Thank you for speaking to us, Detective Erikson. We should be returning to the crime scene. We need to ask Mukuro about the glass that she found, as it could potentially be involved in the case," Niamh announced.

"Then let's get going." I turned back to Detective Erikson. "Thank you again for telling all of this. It will be extremely helpful when this all goes to court tomorrow."

"Just... Tell me the results of the case at the end. I want to know who killed him," Detective Erikson said. "Though I still can't deny that he deserved it..."

"He was a rather rude person, so I'm going to give his killer a high five," Yuri declared.

"Let's go, girls. We have an investigation to attend to. The case won't solve itself," I announced, walking from the room. High pitched clicks on the floor told me that Niamh and Yuri were close behind.
