I took them back to my house. They had nothing better to do. The hole event before was confusing and their were parts that Seemed to have holes but i wasn't in a interigation mood. I built a fire. Although when no one was looking I used my powers to grow it but very carefully. We each stared into the fire pit.
I could watch fire for hours. How it dances across the wood. Licking up into the sky. The array of colors and smolders. The sweet smell of smoke, that covers your clothes and soaks in your hair.
" I'm sorry. I mean it this time. Genuinely. " Shane spoke. Not lifting his gaze from the fire.
" its alright. We all do crazy things when you have feelings for someone." My scratchy voice lingered in the smoky air.
Heads nodded up and down.
" I am very happy to have friends now. Assuming we are freinds. If we are not that's alright but..." Fae started to ramble again. Cassy put a hand on her shoulder.
" were friends." She said with a reassuring smile.
" oh good " fae gave a sigh of relief. She smoothed the lace on her dress. And began to trace the patterns with her fingers.
" did you really mean what you said earlier? About how you used to like me. Back when we were real close." Shane said running his fingers threw his curly black hair.
" yes. " I admitted.
" I would like to be that close again." Shane blushed.
" I have a feeling we will all be becoming very close. I can just sense it." Fae smiled fiddling with her pig tails.
We didn't talk for a lokng time after that. We just gazed into the fire. Josh hadn't said a word to me since his out burst. I think he had finally been given his wake up call. I wanted to see him happy. After all we were friends. Although I could never date him my self. I can't deal with his anger issus and bore headedness. He needs a good patient, pretty girl.
I looked around at the rag tag group. It really was an odd mix of faces.
Its funny you know I don't really need friends or even kinda want them, but iv gottum and no matter how hard I try I can't get rid of them.
" hey look what I found!" I said emerging out of my house. Arms filled with bags of marshmallows and cans of pop.
Each one took a pop and broke a stick off a near by tree. They impaled and roasted their marshmallows.
" how can you eat them like that?" Cassy cringed.
" what." I said mouthfull of marshmallow.
" all burnt up and crispy."
" are you kidding me that's how you eat marshmallows. You have to catchem on fire, char them and eat them. Tis the nature of it." Shane said defending me. We gave a high five.
" such pyros." Fae giggled.
" what's that." Shane countered.
" a name for those who like to play with fire." I smirked. The fire in expectantly grew ten times bigger. We all jumped back. It was my fault, my father had always called me his little pyro. So i let those emotions take hold. Luckily no one noticed my hand in it's spreading.
" correct." Fae said popping a raw mallow into her mouth. The fire died back down.
" I should probably leave now. It is after all dark. I texted my folks I'd be back by ten." Shane pulled out his phone. " annnnd its ten thirty. "
josh stood up his stare not flickering once away from the flames.
" come on buddy time to go home." Shane said tugging josh by his chubby arm. In a trance josh hoped up on his handle bars, and off they went. Back threw the woods to the comfort of suburbia.
Only Cassy and fae remained.
