it was silent for a long time. Elaine was silent, also surprised by what the small girl said. The two girls had no clue what to do. "Was I correct?" The young one said after a few minutes. The rabbits just stared back at the girls face. "I'll find out later, then!" The small one exclaimed then skipped out the bathroom. What was supposed to be a cold hearted murder had turned out to be the complete opposite. Elaine stood up and took off her mask, face completely straight. Mad or in shock?
She didn't bother changing her clothes.
"If what that girl said was true...why the hell was nothing said to me about it?" Elaine said, in full monotone. She walked out of the bathroom after throwing the mask under Kimberly's feet. She slammed the door shut and made her way to the hotel room. Kimberly slowly stood up, looking down at the mask her friend had just thrown at her. She slowly took off her mask at picked up Elaine's as well, putting them both in the bag and walked to the hotel room behind Elaine.
While walking in she heard a conversation. "How the hell is that my fault?!" Elaine shouted.
Some silence and pacing then more yelling. "My leaving doesn't mean that her death is my fault! It's her fault she was trying to call me when she drove into that car!"
Kimberly stayed silent and watched.
"I couldn't care less, honestly." Elaine said with a dark tone and threw the phone on her bed.
Kimberly closed the door, causing Elaine to turn and look at her.
"Who died?" Kimberly asked.
Elaine dodged her question and plopped onto her bed, face in the pillows. "I know you heard me.."
"I know I heard you too..."
"Listen to me.."
"No. You listen to me..." Elaine said, sitting up and looking at Kimberly with puffy eyes. "You hid whatever...that was from me since sixth grade. Why am I hearing it now from a little girl who doesn't even know your face but knows everything I don't just by touching that fucking mask. Am I suddenly not trustworthy or something?"
Kimberly looked at her with shock.
"N-no....I just never was open with my emotions...it's not a me thing.."
"I just don't understand. You know I'd be there for you no matter what but I hear from a little girl that you're....broken? It's been nine years, Kimberly"
"I know I know.....I never knew this would happen...and it's only really because people put me in the place they wanted me to be every year. I was constantly being changed. I never thought somebody would actually care about me. Who would be my friend no matter how I acted...I guess I decided to keep that bottled up." Kimberly spoke.
Elaine's phone rang again.
The screen read 'Dad'
Elaine picked it up and pressed end.
"Wait....why are your parents calling?" Kimberly asked.
"Apparently my mom was dumb enough to call me on the freeway and while she was looking down at her phone she ran into a truck that threw her car upside down and it killed her instantly"
"Oh...." Kimberly said.
"It's nothing. She was always a prick so it doesn't matter. What does matter is that I finally know something about you that I previously didn't. Tell me if you need anything at anytime."
Kimberly nodded and laid the bag on the uncomfortable couch.
"You got it, Travel Buddy" Kimberly gave Elaine a smile and went to her bed to get some sleep. Elaine did the same and caught some sleep.
