Chapter 6
Damon’s POV
When Adam and I arrived at school, I went directly to Emily’s locker to see if she was there. When I got there, I didn’t saw any Emily so I went outside the school to wait for her. I saw a picnic table just outside and sat there. I waited for about a minute when I saw her approaching the gate. She stopped and sighed, facing the school entrance. I stood from the chair I was sitted and fixed myself.
“Hey,” I approached her.
She jumped in surprise and looked at me.
“H-hey,” she greeted back.
“You okay?” I asked concern.
“Yeah,” she fixed herself. “It’s just that I was not used on people greeting me,” she confessed looking at her feet, her voice sad.
My heart tightened. Who could’ve done this to her? I know. Those football players did this to her. My body tensed with anger.
I held her chin, forcing her to look at me in the eyes. “Don’t worry, I’ll start greeting you every day,” I smiled at her. Cheesy, I know. But I couldn’t stand seeing her sad. She smiled sadly at me. Right then and there, I realized that I don’t want to see her sad ever again, I need to make her smile. But she liked Adam. I shrugged the pain that pierced my heart at the mere thought.
“Let me walk you to your class,” I offered.
“No. It’s okay,” she said, side-stepping me and started walking inside.
I jogged to her side and continued walking beside her. We walked in silence as she went to her locker, I held all her books for her and we continued our way to her class. When we arrived at the door of her class, she faced me. “Thank you,” she said, getting her books from my hands and started walking inside.
“Welcome,” I said. I turned around and started walking towards my class. I couldn’t help the grin forming in my lips as I walked.
I closed my eyes, letting the sleep get to me.
“Mr. Andrew!” my Math teacher yelled at me. I opened my eyes in shock and my heart started hammering violently inside my chest. My classmates started turning their faces to look at me but I glared at them. They started looking everywhere but me.
“I will not allow my student sleeping in my class,” my teacher’s voice boomed inside the quiet classroom.
“Sorry,” I said scratching the back of my head. I started hearing girls whispering and giggling around me saying that I looked so cute doing that. I glared at them and they started shutting their mouths. Good. I hate it when people I don’t know compliments me, I want Emily’s compliment.
“Sorry,” I apologized again. The teacher returned to his discussion, like nothing happened.
I looked at the window, forcing myself not to sleep. As I stared outside, my thoughts drifted on the recent attacks Adam and I had. Those attacks couldn’t be coincidence, right? I mean, we were attacked not just once, twice but many times. And they weren’t just ordinary animals; they were monsters and beast. So that must mean something, right? And Emily… she’s so beautiful. God I could stare at her emerald eyes for eternity. And the way her golden hair move when she walks and the wavy tip bounces. The aura around her is different too, as if she knows something that no one else does. As if she was keeping a big secret. I can feel it. The bell rang, and that was enough to snap me out of my thoughts. I shook my head, getting rid of my thoughts as I stood up. I met up with Adam on the hallway.
