Chapter 9

I decided to walk to our school. And to cool my-fucking-self.

A walk there from our house would take an hour and a half since we lived nearest to the forest and farthest from the town center, but I don’t mind. I’m still mad at Adam for ruining my lunch-date with Emily.

Or so I called it.

I let out a shaky breath.

God, I hate him so damn much! Not only did he ruin it by going there, but he also got all of Emily’s attention. They were talking, smiling, laughing. Bullshit! And there I was, eating silently. The pork chop I was eating suddenly tasted bitter inside my mouth.

After I ate, and them fucking talking, I drove Emily to her house – of course, with Adam at the back seat. I didn’t plan on giving him the key, not when he had ruined every-fucking-thing.

The ride there was silent but I didn’t give a single fuck. After I had stopped at Emily’s house, she looked at me and said, thank you. I didn’t even look at her; I just stared at the road ahead. She slid outside, closed the door gently and walked to the door of her house. I turned my head to look at her, and at the same time she did. I met her eyes, and the look she’s giving me made me feel guilty for not talking to her so I broke the staring and continued on driving to our house.

I can’t fall from her looks. I’m still mad at her. I’m still mad at her.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand after we got to the house, I slammed the door shut and didn’t talk to Adam for the whole day, the next day, and today, which was the reason why I woke up so early in the morning to make my own breakfast, and walk to school.

Adam can drive his fucking car.

I plugged my earphones to my iPod and placed it in both my ears. I placed both my hands inside my hoodie as I continued on walking and humming on the song that was playing.

After an hour or so of walking, I passed by on Emily’s house and saw her closing and locking the door. Curiosity got the best of me so I stopped on my track and hid myself at the nearest bush. I removed my earphones as I studied her; she was wearing a dark grey sweater, making her blonde hair stand out, and some white skinny jeans and sneakers. She’s just wearing simple clothing, but damn, does she look sexy in them.

She started walking to the direction of our school.

I moved so that I could see her clearly, but the stupid plant made a rustling sound which caused Emily to stop walking.

Are you fucking kidding me?!

Because of my annoyance, I summoned fire on my palm and burned the stupid bush. Where the bush had been was now ashes. Stupid plant.

After cursing and kicking the ashes scattering it on the air, I realized that I just made an idiotic decision. My secret hide out was gone! Ugh! What was I fucking thinking?! I’m so stupid!

Emily turned around. When she saw me, her eyes widen in shock, and then were replaced with a glare. “What are you doing here?!” she asked furious. I stood straight and faced her.

“What? I can’t walk pass your house now?” I asked cockily.

“Whatever.” She turned her back on me and started to walk away from me and onto the school. I jogged and catch up beside her but she didn’t even spare me a glance. My guess was that the travel to school was a half an hour by foot. I grabbed the left side of my earphones and placed it on my left ear. I grabbed the right side and offered it to Emily. She only gave it a millisecond glance then faced forward. Why is she mad? Shouldn’t I be the one who should be mad at her for leaving me dangling on the air right after that fucking Adam sat beside us? I badly wanted to shout at her for leaving me like that, but I just couldn’t. I don’t want to complicate things, even if we’re just friends.
