Ok guys we need to talk about this because Chekov was more Walter Koenig's Chekov than Anton's this time. Too flirty. I like that he did the typical "____ vas inwented in Russia" line and I'm actually somewhat ok with the fact Bones found Scotch in his locker, idk. I mean, hey, it was PRETTY full when they found it so it's not like he drank a lot of it. My problem is he flirted with too many different girls.

1.) we see him in the beginning getting kicked out of that girl's room and getting his shirt thrown back at him
2.) when they arrive at Yorktown he's talking to a different girl
3.) when he meets Jaylah...cmon no one else noticed him BLATANTLY looking her up and down?
4.) at the end at the party for Kirk when he pulls the classic "inwented in Russia" line, he's talking to another girl.

It was really different for antons Chekov because we used to think of him as this really shy smart kid who stays quiet and cute for the most part. I liked the movie as a whole, but I just think it was a bit uncharacteristic of the Chekov Anton has made for him to be so flirty, regardless of the fact he's 3 years older now. I like that he had A LOT more screen time though. It was nice to have for it being Anton's last star trek movie....

Ok the next thing that needs to be mentioned is what they're going to do for Chekov in the 4th movie. As we know, they have already decided NOT to recast Chekov, which I 130% agree with, as Abrams said "Anton deserves better than that".

The problem I have now is that there's talk they're going to kill him off. We're already mourning Anton, so why do we now have to mourn his beloved character, Chekov? I really want to write a letter to Abrams and Pegg to make sure this doesn't happen. In the original series Star Trek books, Chekov does take a leave of absence to go back to the academy for security. Well, we've seen him do well in engineering. Maybe in the 4th movie they mention he went back to the academy because he wanted to focus more on engineering? The idea of him moving on to something different, maybe something bigger and better for himself, draws a parallel that Anton has indeed moved onto something (someplace, in this case) bigger and better than here.
In using a quote from a dear friend of mine,

"we haven't lost him, no. He might not be here, but we didn't lose him; for you can't lose someone if you know where they are."

And with this parallel, we can say that Anton and Chekov are not lost, they aren't here, with us or aboard the enterprise, but we know where they are and someday, we ( and those who are part of the enterprise crew) will all meet again.

P.S. My boyfriend is a keeper because he says we can name a son after Anton. But his mom hates the name :(
