"Welcome everyone!" Trixie cheered. "Welcome to another super duper happy day at Camp Cali! Today's activity is going to be indoor rock climbing! The person who reaches the 25m high rock climbing boar fastest wins!"

"Fuck me." I muttered.

No. No. No.

"I mean, you're cute and everything but I like to dine my ladies before I bed 'em."

"Fuck off." I scoffed, twiddling my thumbs,

This absolutely wasn't the time for jokes. There was no way in hell that I was rock climbing. I've always had an immense fear of heights. They literally scare the living shit out of me.

"Can everyone make their way to Oak Hall immediately!" Trixie gestured for everyone to follow her.

Everyone began to walk but I couldn't find myself wanting to move. Barclay, who was already a few feet in front of me looked back and frowned when I was still in the same place he saw me before. His eyebrows furrowed as he made his way back to me.

"What? You've forgotten how to walk or something, princess?" He gave me a slight side smile.

"Nope. I remember how to walk perfectly. I also remember how to punch." I smile sarcastically before tip toeing and whispering in his ear. "Karate lessons in middle school."

"I like a woman who knows how to defend herself." He chuckled. "But in all seriousness, what's wrong?"

"Whoa! Barclay Owens....serious? You got a fever or somethin'?"

"I'm perfectly well, thank you very much." He assured me. "Don't avoid the question."

"Why do you care anyways?" I pushed past him, deciding to head back to my cabin.

"Well, I thought that we're friends now. And friends help each other, right?"

I turned around, folding my arms. "Why are you asking me? Haven't you had friends before?"

"Of course. Doesn't mean they were the good kind though."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Nothing. Now you really need to stop changing the subject. We have rock climbing to get to. Come on." He tried to pull my hand but I yanked it away.

"There's no way in hell that I'm rock climbing!" I shrieked, panicking.

"Whoa!" Barclay raised his hands in mock surrender. "What the heck? Are you afraid of rocks or something?"

"No, idiot. I'm afraid of heights." I admitted.

"Seriously?" He burst out laughing, his tan cheeks turning red and his mousey brown hair flopping a little. His laugh was angelic and sweet—the complete opposite to his personality.

"What's so fucking funny?" I shouted, outraged.

"Nothing! Nothing bad at least. I just didn't peg you for the type that gets afraid easily."

"We barely know each other." I scoffed. "You have no right to 'peg' me in anything."

He took a step closer to me. "I'd like to get to know you better."

Flutter flutter. Great, there goes my fucking heart.

"I, er—"

"Save it." He interrupted. "I know you'd like to get to know me better too. Sylvia's been hinting at me for a few days now."
