Chapter 2: Is this goodbye?

How can you leave me?

Why did you have to die?

You promised me you'll never leave me.

It hurts so much... please come back...

Scarlett thought of every reason on why this happened, why he had to die. Did she do something wrong to deserve this? Did she have to suffer like this? Why?

Scarlett lay in her bed, crying. She cant seem to understand why. Everything was so miserable with her life. It's like a part of her died along with his death. And that part was what she needed to survive; her feelings. Scarlett cluthced her locket with her trembling hands and cried harder, but silently. She cuddled herself into a ball, as if to make herself protected from the hurt she was feeling; but whatever she does, she remembers him. His smile, his arrogance, his laugh, and his expressive eyes. Why does it hurt so much?

As Xav went outside their house, he thought of how the scene of the night seem undisturbed by what just happened. Adrian's dead. His mind was so troubled by that two words. He thought of his sister's grief stricken face when he told her that Adrian's dead. Their parents was also grief stricken by the fact that Adrian is already dead, they considered Adrian a part of their family. Scarlett was so happy before all this. Xav remembered how happy Scarlett was with Adrian, they unseperable. They had a deep bond between them that can never be broken.

 Xav took a deep breath in of the night air, and started to walk along the front garden of their house. He looked back towards the house in the window of Scarlett's bedroom, there wasn't any lights on. He hoped she was okay, but he knew she wasn't.  Xav went inside to find his parents sitting in the living room. Their house used to be bright and beautiful but now it seemed dark. Even though all the lights were on they felt nothing but sadness. Xav looked at his parents. His Mom's usually glowing face were now pale and her gentle eyes were red from crying. His Dad's stern face was much more pale.

"Mom, Dad, you should go to sleep," Xav went over the living room and he sat himself in an antique chair next to the small mahogany table.

"How's Scarlett?" His mother asked.

"She's in her room,"

They sat in silence for a moment but her Dad broke it, "Did you conatct Adrian's parents?"

"Yes, they said they will be coming here to check on Scarlett after they settle things for the funeral,"

"Xav, can you check on your sister, I'm worried about her," His Mom asked Xav.

"Sure," Xav stood up and walked towards the main corridor. Theyre house was really big and was full of decoration at the same time spacious and was brightly lit with crystal chandeliers. He went up the stairs and headed towards his sister's bedroom. When he was there he knocked and waited for her sister to answer; but she didnt, so he just opened the door and saw his sister hudled in her bed crying.

"Scarlett?"

"What do you want?" Scarlett asked Xav.

"Are you okay?"

"Do you think I'm okay!? Adrian is dead and you think I would be okay!" Scarlett shouted at Xav. She didnt want to but she was so overwhelmed with grief that she cant think.

"Look Scarlett, no one wanted Adrian to die. Youre not the only one who lost him," Xav told her gently.

"I know," Scarlett did knew. She wasnt the only one who lost him. His parents, her family, his friends all lost him. she knew she was being childish with isolating herself; but who wouldnt? Was she so childish to love someone and feel the pain?

"Scarlett, everyone's worried about you, even Adrian's parent are. So please stop this,"

"Xav?"

"What is it?"

"Can you leave me alone for a while?" Scarlett asked her brother.

Xav knew that nothing can make her feel better. He wanted to help her, but he also knew that she needs to help herself first to move one. Xav looked at her sister and gently clossed the door behind him.

Scarlett knew she couldnt be like this for the reast of her life, but right now she wanted to just cry away all the sadness she felt.
