Halloween Pranks

Cora's POV

"Hey Cora, wait up would you?" Jason called out to me. It was Halloween night and I had nothing to do, so I was planning on spending the night in my room playing the wii. I slowed down and waited for Jason to catch up.

"You're so slow!" I tease.

"Oh shut it." Jason replies. "You're going to regret saying that after you see what I got you." His hands are behind his back giving me the impression that whatever he got me was pretty small.

"Show me already." Jason has a small rectangular box in his hands. When he opens it, I see a beautiful ruby necklace. I quickly grab it, but it seems to burn my hands when I touch it. "Ow! It burnt me."

"Really? Let me see." Jason picks up my hand and looks it over. There are no marks on my hand, but I know I felt something. I shake the feeling off and allow Jason to put the necklace around my neck.

There's a mild suffocating feeling I get when the chain touches my neck. I gasp for air but can't seem to inhale any. Finally, the sensation stops and I give Jason an encouraging smile. It's the thought that counts, although this necklace is giving me the creeps.

I keep the ruby necklace on for the rest of the day. Nothing else out of the ordinary happens, until around 10:30 p.m. I was getting ready to go to sleep. I took the necklace off and laid it on my drawer.

"No you stay put." I order the necklace. Look at me, talking to inanimate objects. I jump into my bed and sleep peacefully for the next couple of hours. However, my peaceful sleep ends when I wake up with sweat all over my face, and I feel as though I'm in a furnace in the middle of summer. I glance over at my drawer and expect to find the silver chain of the necklace. Instead, all I see is my makeup and my mirror.

Out of instinct, I grab at my neck. As I expected, I feel the smooth surface of the ruby on my neck. I try to rip it off but instead it lets out a strange hissing sound.

"Get-off-of-me!" I scream. No one could have put it on me, I live alone. I didn't ever actually expect the necklace to respond when I spoke to it.

"Release me." It said in a hoarse voice.

"Wha-what?" I manage to squeak out.

"Open the locket, and release me." It replied. I just realized that I never actually had opened it, thank God! I began toggle with the clip on the back. I had to get it off.

"You can't break me, or escape me! Bwahahahaha!" The thing laughed evilly. I was starting to hyperventilate when my phone started ringing.

"Don't you dare answer that." The locket demanded. I picked up only to find out that Jason was calling me.

"Hey Cora. Are you okay?" I heard a giggle in the background but decided to ignore it.

"No, I'm not okay! You gave me a demented locket. It's trying to kill me." I hiss. Right after I finished my sentence there was a creak outside my door. "Who-who is it?" I was quite a scared at this moment. What if it was the soul of the locket coming to murder me? Was I going to survive this night? I was about to scream when I heard what sounded like Jason's voice.

"SURPRISE!" Jason yells. Right then Emma and Adam walk into my room and spray silly string everywhere.

"What the hell? I want an explanation, and I want it now." I order sternly.

"You see, we wanted to scare you this Halloween. We're too old to go trick-or-treating, so instead we pranked you." Jason continues. "I was voicing the locket the whole time, I set a speaker up in your room so I could hear what you were saying so I could act like there was a soul in the locket. I really scared you didn't I?"

Wham! I swing my fist at his upper arm. He cringes in pain but doesn't make a sound. "Payback, you deserved it." Is all I say.

Just then, Adam and Emma start cracking up. I can't help but join in. The whole thing was pretty funny, even thought I hate Jason for scaring me like that, I know I'll get over it.

"Let's all go over to my hotel room, we'll find something to do." Adam says, he wiggles his eyebrow and Emma starts laughing like a maniac.

"Promise me that you'll never become like Adam when your old." I tease, however this doesn't even dampen Adam good mood.

"You really think we'll be together when we're old?" Jason asks hopefully.

"Um.... actually yes. I mean.... I hope." I'm blushing madly now. Jason embraces me, I smile into my shirt. Did he get a new cologne? Whatever it is, I like it.

"Come on you guys!" Adam waves us out the door. "We are now going to throw a Halloween bash." Oh please no, eh, it can't be that bad right?

Yep.... I was suppose to write a "scary story" and I was actually going to make it about an exorcist, but my tracer said that she didn't want me to, idk why.

So I toned it down and incorporated Jason, Adam, and Emma. I know that right around you guys are missing Ty, don't worry, he's next!!!
