Emma's POV

I had arrived back in Illinois at about 3:00 PM, Eastern Standard Time. The plane ride left me to my own devices when I got off, so I took my phone out and pressed the record button.

"Hey guys, it's KitKat," I sighed, remembering all the rimes Cora was by my side whenever I said this...

...even though she was still a bitch.

"And I have arrived back in Illinois! Yay!" A picture of Cora and I shouting at each other from opposite sides of the game room popped in my head.

Not that I would do that again with her.

"No meet and greets for now, but I am here to start collage back up again." Cora and I taking notes in English.

She had terrible grammar anyways.

"Get myself a first grade ed-u-ma-ca-tion." Cora laughing as Adam talks about his wit.

She sometimes snorted.

"But I will be happy to meet you all later! A date will be arranged soon!" The double date with Cora, Jason, Adam and I.

She ate like a pig.

"Peace out krew! WHOOP WHOOP!"

'Goodbye my little owlets!'

She was too perky.

As I pass by familiar shops in the car, dusted by snow, images appear, branding nostalgia and hate in my head. An ice cream shop where we would go in the summer. The Starbucks we worked at. The book store we bought books from. Everything collided back into my heart like a dagger, painful and raw.

My eyes were almost in tears by the time I reached the hotel which I would stay at until I could get my apartment back. I dropped the money into the drivers hands and hurried inside, the snowflakes caressing my Sherlock-like coat.

"SURPRISE!" Cora, Adam, and Mitch stood in the lobby, smiling and tired. I pinched myself to make sure it wasn't a frostbite hallucination. They were there, in the flesh. I went up to Adam and flew into his arms as he spun me round and round, in the end getting mixed in with a tangle of kisses and my long damp hair.

After our embrace, I walked over to Mitch, whom I hugged and patted on the back, a simple friendly gesture.

Finally, Cora stood in tears as I walked up to her, and embraced her as well. We hugged for what seemed like an hour, crying on each others shoulders all the way. Muffled sobs escaped our mouths, like "I'm so sorry," or "I missed you," and "This place brought back memories."

I composed myself, as did she, before we headed up to the rooms. Mitch shared one with Cora, while Adam shared one with me. Two beds in each room of course.

Cora and I started our apologies, and made a quick vlog. But out of the corner of my eye, I could see Adam motioning to Mitch to go out in the hallway...

Adam's POV

I told Mitch to come out in the hallway when the girls weren't looking. He looked at me strangely and was wondering why we were here and why we couldn't discuss with the women in the room.

"Because," I replied. "I got Emma this." I held out a little velvet case, a deep navy, and when Mitch opened it up, his eyes grew wide at the small ring, cushioned and cocooned in the silky fabric.

"Is that...what I think it is?" He said, his eyes glittering with the reflection of the jewel.

"Yes. I decided to ask her tomorrow." I closed the box and shoved it into the deepest contents of my pocket.

Mitch's mouth was on the floor. He shook himself, mentally saying to pull himself together. He then pt his hand on my shoulder. "I have something to say too."

"I'm going to ask Cora out."

I smiled. I knew they had been perfect for each other. And since the breakup with Jason, Cora had been looking at Mitch a little differently. "About time." I told him.

Cora's POV:

"Peace out krew, WHOOP WHOOP!"

"Goodbye my little owlets!"

Emma closed the camera as she smiled at me for the first time in ages. "Y'know..." she said, laying on her stomach and kicking her feet up in the air. "You're single, Mitch is single, you both want to be in a relationship-"

"No." I could feel the blush on my cheeks reflecting from Emma's evil grin.

"You know you want it."

"No."

"I know you want it."

"BUT I'M A GOOD GUUUURL!"

We fell back on her bed, laughing. In between laughs, I could hear Emma saying "#2013!"

Adam and Mitch walked in the room, staring at us. We were laughing like maniacs from the fact the very person whom our joke was about walked into the room and gave us weird looks.

"Are....you guys okay?" Asked Adam, backing away slowly.

Our laughter died down. "Yes," I said, sort of giggling. "Inside joke."

"Uh-huh..." said Mitch. "Cmon Cora, let's go. It's getting late."

"Alright. See ya Emma!"

"Later Cora!"

Emma's POV:

I snatched my coat, purple knit beanie, and boots as I walked towards the door. "Going to the corner store for some kitkats. You want anything?"

"Nah, I'm good." Adam replied.

"Kay. See ya in a few!"

It was leaving my phone at the hotel that was my fatal mistake.

Cora's POV:

Emma was walking down the street to he corner store. I was looking out my window when my phone rang. Adam.

Adam: Emma left her phone.

Me: Go give it to her.

Adam: Okay, but I ain't walking in that shit.

I heard the dingle of car keys in the background as I rolled my eyes.

Me: Don't slip on ice and die.

Adam: Love you too.

Me: Leave the loving to your girlfriend.

Adam: *BEEEEEEEEEEP*

He hung up.

**********

I decided to take a walk around the block for the hell of it. Maybe I'll even surprise Emma and meet her at the corner store, I thought. I was about to turn onto the corner when I saw a girl in a purple beanie carelessly walk across the street. She was jaywalking, but that wasn't my problem until I saw her wispy blonde hair poke out from the beanie. I started to walk towards her when I looked to the right and stumbled back. No one had seen him coming, the crazy man who was texting. My phone buzzed and I screamed.

The car screeched.

I fell backwards.

The wheels slid.

I watched in horror, as did the man.

The wheels wouldn't stop.

And Emma went flying.
