Alexia's POV
My limo pulls up to New York Academy, I exit and thank my driver, Thomas. I walk towards the front steps of school, pull down the bottom of my skirt and take a deep breath before entering the building. I'm always nervous on the first day of school. I pull my crinkled schedule out of my dance bag. First period I have English. I enter my class 2 minutes before the bell rings and find a seat. I turn around and see a group of 10 kids enter the classroom together. I sigh and wish I was in my studio dancing instead. A boy walks up to me and sits in the seat right next to me. I turn and look at him. He smiles at me and sticks his hand out,"Hi I'm Grant Williams." I shake his hand,
"Alexia Taylor."
"Alexia Taylor?! As in the daughter of Kate and Louis Taylor??" I nod slightly annoyed,
"Yup that's me." The bell rings and my teacher begins to talk. All I can think about is dance, it's the only thing that matters to me.
Eventually it's lunch so I go to the dance room and stretch on the ballet bars. After my warmup, I sit on the floor and eat my sandwich. My parents are part of Manhattans elite so they always host galas and balls and auctions. It's kind of annoying because I have to be their perfect child and dress up and attend their events. My parents are close friends with Charles and Ellis Howard, also part of the elite crowd. And of course they have a son, Edward, who's my age that they've been trying to set me up with for months. This Saturday, my parents are hosting a social gathering at our house and they are insisting I attend.
School is finally over and I go to the front of the school where Thomas usually picks me up. As I'm standing outside, I feel a warm pair of arms wrap around me. Startled, I turn and see that it is Edward. I sigh,
"Edward, always a pleasure to see you."
"You look beautiful Alexia. Will I be seeing you at Mr and Mrs Taylor's gathering?" He asks and I nod, giving the fakest smile you can imagine. I see Thomas arrive and say a quick goodbye to Edward before jumping into the back of my limo.
It takes 40 minutes to get home, typical New York traffic. I pull up to my large home and rub my hazel eyes. Such a big home shouldn't always be so empty. Luckily I have Thomas and my housekeeper Liza staying here as well. I enter my house, expecting emptiness. I'm completely shocked when I see both mom and dad sitting in the living room talking. They look up when I enter the door.
"Alexia please sit, we need to talk" My father says. I awkwardly sit on the couch and cross my legs.
"Is everything okay?" I ask. My mom laughs,
"Yes dear everything is fine, we just wanted to let you know that Edward will be attending the gathering as your date on Saturday." I don't even react, I just grab my backpack and walk upstairs to my bedroom. This sucks, it feels like my parents are controlling every aspect of my life! I can't even decide who I want to date anymore. I jump into my large bed and look up at the ceiling. At least I still have dance to make me happy, unless they decide to take that away next ..
