That's all?

Stevie met up with Lindsey a couple of days later. He couldn't have been happier with having her back by his side, showering her with affection. She welcomed it, of course she did, but it was a little harder for her to showcase that she enjoyed his attention than it would be normally. It made Lindsey question her, as she knew it would, but she assured him that everything was just fine, so he let it go.

The day they were reunited, Lindsey didn't have a show to do, so he insisted on him and Stevie spending the day together and without anyone else interfering. After taking a shower, changing into different clothes and putting on makeup, Stevie said, she was ready to go.

"And where would you like to go?" Lindsey asked with a smile, as he wrapped one arm around her back, leading her out of the hotel room.

"Um... we could go for a bite to eat?"

"Alright." Giving a small nod, Lindsey said.

They left the hotel and decided to search for a nice looking place, yet one, where they could have a quiet corner for themselves. A concert tomorrow night in the same city, so the word was definitely out that Lindsey Buckingham was in town. Despite the fact he loved his fans, he wanted to spend time with his girlfriend.

"So, did you get everything from Joe's place?" Lindsey asked, once they sat down and ordered their food.

"Yeah, every last thing. Like it or not, it's all at yours now." Stevie laughed, picking up her iced tea.

"Do I need to move into a bigger house?" He joked, leaning against the back of the chair.

"Huh, well..." Stevie looked down, biting on her lower lip. She had to tell him, she had to. She was still afraid, but she couldn't keep him in the dark for much longer. She wanted to call him the moment she found out. "Maybe."

"Oh? And why's that?" Lindsey lifted an eyebrow, wanting to know more.

"I know this is very sudden and most definitely not planned, but..." Looking up and at him again, Stevie took a deep breath. "I'm pregnant."

"Oh..." Lindsey then frowned.

"That's all?" Stevie let out a nervous chuckle. This was exactly what she was afraid of.

"Do you know for sure? Have you seen a doctor?"

"Yes. When you left, that very same day I bought a pregnancy test, when it was positive I scheduled a doctor's appointment. I'm just four weeks, so if you're wondering, the baby is definitely yours."

Lindsey didn't say anything for a minute, he wasn't expecting anything like this. "And... you're keeping it?"

"Of course I'm keeping it." Stevie replied defensively. "I've wanted to have a child for a while now... Listen, I love you, Lindsey, so much, but if this is not what you want... If this is too soon for you, not at the right moment, then I'll let you go, I'll try to, but I won't even hear a word about having an abortion."

"I mean..." He trailed off, taking a sip of water too. "Of course this soon and not at the perfect time. We haven't been together for long, we haven't discussed our future or any of that sort. Waking up today, I definitely didn't imagine you'd be telling me I'm going to be a father."

"Like I said-"

"I just need a bit of time to think, okay? Can you give me that?"

Sighing, Stevie nodded. Deep down inside she hoped he would be happy... "Yeah, sure. Just please, don't take too long. If you don't want to have this with me, then I don't want to waste my time, I'll just go home."

"I won't take too long." Lindsey assured.

Their waiter returned shortly, bringing their food, which they ate in complete silence, not one word was said between them. Lindsey had wanted to have a lovely day together and in a way, Stevie felt like she ruined it, but this wasn't something she could keep to herself. He had a right and he needed to know.

Having walked her back to the hotel, Lindsey stopped, scratching the back of his head. "I, uh... I want to be alone for a bit." Retrieving the room key from his back pocket, he handed it to her. "You go and rest or... And I'll come back later."

What else could she do besides agree with that?

Entering the hotel room, Stevie sighed heavily, as she took off her boots. God, she wished she could have a drink right now... Lindsey's reaction or more lack thereof hurt. They created a new life, the perfect combination of the two of them and all he could say was, 'Oh...'

Tears threatened to fall, but Stevie shook herself mentally, breathing in and out deeply a couple of times. If she couldn't turn to a bottle, she was going to write. Nobody knew she did that. Sometimes she would sit down with her small notebook and write down her feelings, then turn them into beautiful poems. Maybe, just maybe she would share them with the world someday, but not yet.

At some point, Stevie fell asleep. That's how Lindsey found her; on the couch in the living area of the suite, with her notebook and a pen in her hand, her glasses on the bridge of her nose. Approaching her quietly, he sat down, taking her hand and lacing his fingers through hers, he gave her a gentle squeeze.

"Wake up, Steph." He whispered. Then again a couple of times more, before her eyes slowly opened.

"Gee, what time is it?" She yawned, seeing that it was dark outside.

"Doesn't matter, does it?"

"Not really, I suppose." She then traveled back to what happened earlier in the day, nervously asking. "So, was it enough time for you to think this through?"

Lindsey nodded, his facial expression not giving anything away. Lifting his eyes up, locking them with hers, he then said. "Marry me."
