You're joking...

Lindsey was surprised how relatively easy it was to get Stevie on board with the recording he mentioned. She was a little hesitant at first, especially when he began strumming his acoustic and told her to start singing, as if she had been doing it since she could talk. But she got used to it fairly quickly, being more at ease with every of their rough demos. Before they knew it, they had recorded ten of those; two of them being just Lindsey playing guitar.

What they had was really good, Lindsey knew that and he wanted to take one step further and make those demos into actual songs. How was he going to approach Stevie about it, he did not know that yet. After all, she was five months pregnant at the moment and a little cranky to say the least...

"Steph?" He knocked on the open door to their bedroom. "Are you napping?"

"No." She shook her head, sighing, both hands on her belly. "Someone doesn't let me."

"Oh." Lindsey smiled slightly, walking over to the bed and getting in beside her. He placed his hand on her middle, stroking gently. Her belly seemed to have just popped out one morning and he absolutely loved it. He loved being able to see their baby growing. "Hey, Steph..." He began, faking a cough.

"What is it?" She asked, with her eyes closed, unable to see the conflicted emotions crossing his face, yet she felt it from the way he spoke to her.

"I was in my studio and uh... I listened to everything we've recorded and I've got to say, it's pretty damn good, you know." Taking a deep breath, Stevie opened her eyes and turned her head to look at Lindsey, awaiting what was coming next, though, she had a hunch about it already. "I thought, maybe, I could get some people from the industry to listen to it as well, see what they think."

"Get to the point, Linds."

"Well, if those said people liked what we have, then I would love to record everything for real, to release an album with you."

Studying him for a minute, Stevie then started laughing unexpectedly. "Why would you? You're famous as it is, you have a strong solo career going, people love you."

"It's not for people, baby. It's for me, for us." He added, moving to lie a little higher, resting his head on her shoulder. "Music is very important to me and now knowing that it is for you, too, I feel connected to you on a different level. It's special to me."

She fell silent to think again. "But I'm not a performer."

"Not yet."

"No, Lindsey, all I want to be now is a mother. There's nothing else that I want besides being a Mom and a wife right now."

"And I'm not going to push you into anything, Steph. While I think you'd be a natural on stage, I'm proud of you saying that you want nothing but to be a Mom to our baby, I love you for that. All I'm saying is, let's begin with the album. We won't force anything. Maybe someday you'll want to go out in front of thousands of people and sing those beautiful songs to them and maybe you won't. I'm fine either way."

"Yeah? You're not just saying that?"

"I'm not just saying that, I mean it, really. All I want is for us to put those songs out there, let everyone hear them and know just how talented my future wife is." Lifting his eyes up, he smirked, kissing wherever his lips connected with her skin at that moment.

"About that..." Now it was Stevie's turn to bring up a subject, she had been quite focused on lately. "Have you thought about where and when? Are we going to make this engagement a year or two long or are we going to get married before our baby gets here, or..."

"How do you want it?"

"No, you first, because otherwise you'll just go with what I say. I want to hear your opinion." Stevie said, lacing her fingers through his, as she turned on her side and so did he, the two of them being face to face.

"If you want to know what I honestly think, then I would love it if we didn't have to discuss if our baby will be a Buckingham or a Nicks, when they're born."

"So, you want us to get married before we welcome them into this world?"

Nodding his head, he added. "I do. But I also know you want to put on a beautiful dress that you choose, not one that fits you. So, I can wait."

"And you don't think I want people to see our love instead? What you and I created together? I don't care about any dresses or hair, or makeup, or location... I just want to be your wife, Linds. And I am so glad you want to be married before we have the baby. I want that, too. I think it's only right."

His face lit up at the thought of their wedding taking place a lot sooner than he thought it was going to. "Why don't we do it then?"

"What do you mean by that?" Stevie chuckled at his excitement.

"Let's get my family and yours here and get married in the privacy of our own home."

"You're joking..."

"I'm dead serious, Steph."

"Really?" Lindsey nodded his answer. At that very moment, she felt a sharp kick in the ribs, gasping at the surprise. "I guess, I'll take it as a sign! Alright, let's do it!"
