Stevie had to wait a whole month until Lindsey would be finished with his tour. She had just come into her eight week of pregnancy, she was tired and sick well into the day rather than just the morning. It wasn't easy traveling around the country right now and she was so ready to go home. She even missed a couple of Lindsey's shows, which he said she shouldn't feel bad about, but she did anyway.
It was the last concert for Lindsey and he very carefully asked if maybe Stevie would come along, because he had something planned, but she didn't know about the last part yet.
"If you're not feeling that good, then you don't have to come, I won't be mad." Smiling, Lindsey touched her cheek with the palm of his hand, as he knelt by Stevie's bedside.
"No, I want to. It's your last show. But I'll come for only that, okay? I won't be going with you to soundcheck."
"Alright." He nodded, adding. "Then when I'm done with it, I'll come back here and take you with me to the venue."
"Okay." Giving him a small smile and then accepting a kiss. "If you don't mind, I'll sleep some more."
"Of course, see you later, baby."
Waking up several hours later and feeling well rested for a change, Stevie got out of bed and went to the bathroom first, before returning and going to look through her suitcase for something to wear. Today was a special day, maybe she should put on something a little different too other than her usual attire?
Stevie was just about finishing putting on makeup, when Lindsey walked through the door. He entered the bedroom of the suite and froze a little, swallowing hard. "Babe..."
"Hey there." Stevie smirked, approaching him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Cat got your tongue?"
"I, uh... don't get me wrong, but..." Holding her at arms length, Lindsey shamelessly stared at her chest. "You do not look pregnant."
"I decided to enjoy the figure I still have." She laughed, pecking him on the lips. "So, I look alright then?"
"You look hot." He said, biting into his clenched fist, making her laugh.
She went back to the mirror in the bathroom to apply lipstick, Lindsey's eyes glued to her. Stevie wore a backless black chiffon dress, which also was quite revealing at the front too, going down to her knees. Her hair was long and straight, makeup rather dark, her lips now red. Did he let something slip and she knew she had to dress up? Lindsey shook that thought away, no, nobody knew but his assistant.
"Where are my boots?" Stevie asked, looking for them.
"Those?" Lindsey showed at her open suitcase.
"Right." She chuckled and took them out, sitting on the bed to put them on. Standing up again, she spun around for Lindsey, asking. "Do I take your breath away?"
Laughing lightly Lindsey nodded. "Of course, always. I just didn't know you were so modest." Teasing her a little, he wrapped one arm around her shoulders and led her out the door.
Arriving at the arena, Lindsey checked his watch and realized they still had quite some time before the show, which was good. Walking to his dressing room, he prayed his assistant hadn't forgotten his request. Once they reached it, Lindsey opened the door and showed Stevie to go in first.
"After you."
"Such a gentleman. Are you trying to get lucky tonight?" Stevie chuckled, turning her head away from him and looking straight ahead, as she then gasped. "Oh, Linds... Those are beautiful! Are they from the crew?" She thought that the people who worked around him, congratulated him on finishing the tour.
"Hm, I don't know. They weren't here before I left. Why don't you go and read the card, I see one attached."
It was a gorgeous, big bouquet of red and white roses. Stevie took the note and read it out loud:
'I love you'
"What the hell?" She frowned. "Someone's got a crush on you?"
Lindsey couldn't help but roll his eyes. "The flowers are from me to you, silly. I know this is probably not the most ideal place, but I wanted you to be surprised and I didn't think you'd expect it. I kind of thought you wouldn't be coming with me in the morning so it all worked out perfectly."
Stevie was staring at him skeptically, as he came up to her and locked his hands on the small of her back. "Just what on earth are you talking about?"
"I already proposed to you and you said yes." Lindsey continued. "But we were missing something vitally important."
"Um, okay..."
"Oh my God, Steph - the ring!" Lindsey laughed. "Baby, I finally found the perfect ring for you and I had this little set up to give it to you."
"You did? But I told you, you din't have to." Although, she was smiling from ear to ear already.
"And I told you that you're crazy. So..." Turning her around in his arms. "If you look behind the vase, you just might find it."
Doing as he said, Stevie took the small velvet box and opened it, still being embraced by Lindsey. She covered her mouth with a hand, her eyes immediately brimming with tears. Facing him again, Stevie kissed him, handing him the box and holding out her hand.
"Put it on, please."
"So, I take it, you like it?" Lindsey smiled lovingly at her, taking the ring out and putting the box away.
"Oh, Linds, it's gorgeous!" She gushed, nodding. A bigger, round-cut diamond was sitting in the middle, with smaller ones going all the way around the white gold band. "Please, Lindsey!"
Laughing, he first kiss her hand, before slowly sliding the ring onto her finger. "It's official now."
"It is." Capturing his lips, she lingered for a moment, as she then pulled back and he wiped the tears, that finally escaped, from under her eyes.
"You're going to make the most beautiful bride. Although, I can't wait until you become the most beautiful mother to our baby."
"Baby Mia."
"Or baby Evan." Lindsey looked at her pointedly. Of course he was just kidding, all he wanted was for their baby to be healthy, it didn't matter if they were having a girl or a boy.
"Why not both?" Stevie then joked and Lindsey eye's got wide. "I'm just kidding! I think one will be plenty for us."
"Don't scare me like that. I doubt I've ever held a baby before. I don't have a clue how to deal with one baby, let alone two!"
"Stop talking about it, some higher power might hear us." Stevie laughed and Lindsey made a motion as if to zip up his mouth. She then glanced at her hand again. "Gosh, it's so beautiful..."
"I think you'll be staring at the ring and not me, while I'm on stage."
"Maybe." Stevie shrugged and Lindsey frowned, acting offended.
"I knew you didn't really love me."
"I love you."
"So you say."
"No, I do!"
"Yeah?"
"Mhm." Nodding her head, she pressed herself a little closer to him.
"Prove it." Leaning in, she gave him a kiss. "That's it?"
"Not enough?"
"It will never be enough." Lindsey said, kissing her properly, even causing her to bend backwards a little. "Now that was a kiss!"
