When I walk through the hallways, I come across a wooden door or either a guard. When I look at them, they stare at the roof but I can feel their gaze following after me...
My hair is straightened and at each side of my head, a piece of hair is clipped back with a golden metal butterfly. My eyes are smoky, my lips are a neutral cream and oh yes, it's glossy! My feet are covered in golden plated Lois Vuitton's! I feel elegant. I feel stylish, and I feel worthy of being a queen. I guess that's important, having self-confidence. It doesn't matter what people think or say about you, that is their own theory! Very deep inside of you, you know who you really are. I reach double glass doors. Just before I decide to ask the guards to open the door, Quinton comes walking up to me from another passage way.
"Wow, Isabelle. You look... amazing."
"That's very nice of you to say, Quinton!"
"No, Isabelle. I mean it. You're breathtaking like never before! Look at you." Gosh. I never thought anyone would even think that. I decide to look at myself. What! I have glitter all over me! My shoes, my hair, my dress! It's almost like I'm glowing.
"Magic. It must be the dress or something." I state. He nods fiercely.
"No, it's not the dress. The butterflies in your hair! Their wings are flapping glitter!" I stand completely still and feel the light wind crossing my ears from above. I see a little bit of glitter sparkling in the air around me.
"Should I take them off? Is it too much?" I ask.
"No! I mean, you can if you want to but I think they're beautiful. You're beautiful." Aah! That's so sweet! I give him a hug and he holds me for a minute before whispering something in my ear. "I was so wrong about you. I want you to know that I was joking about you too. I also laughed with everyone because you were clumsy and different. But now I see who you really are. You are unique and wonderful! You deserved so much more than what you got from us. I am so terribly sorry, Isabelle." Tears start to form on my eyelids.
"It's okay, you know. It's all over and we can move past that. I forgive you. I don't know if you ever noticed but I was completely in love with you! Is it crazy to be in love with the hottest guy in school and your neighbor?" We both giggle of embarrassment.
"No, actually it's not completely totally crazy!" I smile and let go of him. "Isabelle, would you do me the honor of walking me down these stairs to our party where we will be crowned prince and princess?"
"Yes." A horn is blown and the doors open slowly. There are hundreds of people gathered in this room. Most of which I've never seen before. Quinton and I take hands and walk down the flight of stairs to the man standing on a balcony on the opposite side of the room. The crowd of people make a path so that we could cross to the other side. We head up a staircase to where we said our vows and received our crowns. They're beautiful. Mine is silver plated roses with a red sapphire in each one! After everything, I am introduced to kings and queens from other kingdoms! Can you believe there are others out there? We mostly talk about the pythons or my training in space! This is unbelievable! I also heard them talking about the ranking of leaders. Kings and Queens at the top, Princes and Princesses second, protectors and workers third and citizens last on the chart. That is terrible, it means Jake and I can't see each other. I'm not letting that happen, not under my watch. After Quinton and I opened the dance floor with a waltz, I search for Jake and find him in the reception room watching the security cameras! I sneak up behind him and scare him by whispering 'boring' into his ear. He shoots forward in his chair and when he sees me, he just smiles and says, "You scared the living hell out of me! And no, it's not boring, it's my job." I slide to the desk and glue myself onto it.
"A princess is not supposed to sit on desks. It's inappropriate." I sigh heavily.
"Jake, don't call me Princess! Call me..."
"Girlfriend?" he puts on a serious face. I lean forward, closer.
"So we're dating now? I didn't know that." We both laugh but then I remember the ranking chart of individuals. "Jake, there's something we need to talk about. When were you going to tell me about the rankings?" He immediately looks down to the marble floor.
"I wanted you to find out yourself. So you can decide what to do. But it really isn't major, I mean..." he runs out of words.
"What you're trying to say is, we're doomed. How does a person reverse such a law? It's impossible!"
"Isabelle, relax. We'll figure it out. If it's necessary, we'll lay low for a few months."
"I'm not even going to reply to that. I refuse to hide my love for you. I'm happy and I will keep fighting to stay happy." He frowns and apologizes for keeping quiet about it. He also comes closer and holds me tight in his arms. I feel so special as all of my worries just melt away. Once I get a glimpse of his biceps flexing underneath the tuxedo, something triggers a feeling inside of me. A feeling of desperation and insanity. I want everything to be alright. For once in my life, I just want everything to be alright, all the people, plans and situations. But it never is, if I want something, I have to sacrifice in return. Life isn't that simple. It just isn't. All I do is sigh and let go of Jake. It's all I could think of to do. I get off the desk and start towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Jake grabs my hand and tugs me back. He has an incredible strength. But not in a fierce, manly way. Just gentle and caring. I love it.
"I need to get out of here. I can't do this anymore. I'm tired of being told what to do and meeting people is just my worst faculty! I cannot do this. I'm sorry but it's just getting too much. And to know this is just the beginning!" I decide to just dumbly drop to the ground and sit on the cold floor. The speakers in the hall are so loud, I can hear the songs very clearly. Jake walks up in front of me.
"There's something I want to show you. Get up."He says plainly. He holds out his hand outstretched. I put my palm in his gripand royally, he pulls me off the ground in just a few seconds. He leads meoutside to an arch covered in orchids with fairy lights between everything.Ellie Goulding's Lost And Found comes up and Jake puts his hand on my back andhis other is carving mine. We're going to dance now. Extremely romantic. Shame,he's doing so much trouble to keep me happy. I really adore his presence. It'scomforting for my troubled and so very lonely soul...
