There she was standing in front of me . She had her brown soft curls in a high ponytail .she was wearing the black blouse I got her on her birthday last year , and a white pencil skirt . Her white heels clicking when she moved around . She was looking out of the window biting her lip like she always did when she was nervous .
" Lilly listen to me it's very late it's 2 am for God's sake , go wherever you wanna go tomorrow morning " I said still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes .
She looked down and smiled at me , " you'll thank me for this later on " she said in a calm voice and picked up her Gucci bag from the table .
" Now why the hell would I be thankful to you for going out at 2 in the morning " I said scorning. I stood up and went towards her .
" Liza I'll be back , it's not like am gonna die or something stop worrying so much " she giggled , her eyes sparkling in the light .
Her words were like ice poured on me , I suddenly realised that exactly what's gonna happen , it's exactly what happened that night and exactly what happened every night in my dream from the past four months .
Lilly left the room to go downstairs , while I stared at the door dumbfounded.
" Tell Sean I love him and will be back by lunch and...... I love you too liza as much as you don't want to believe it " she said and smiled at me from downstairs before she closed the main door and headed out .
I suddenly realised the enormity of what was gonna happen next . I rushed downstairs ,
" Lilly , lilly please wait lilly don't go please " I rushed and swinged the main door open .
Nothing
Silence screaming in my ear , pitch dark all around me . I looked down and saw her .
Her blank lifeless eyes stared back at me , her throat cut , blood rushing out from it . Her white pencil skirt smudged with dirt . Her beautiful curls sticking out from her pony tail . She was lying dead on the door mat .
I shrieked and stumbled back . Tears running down my cheeks but I made no effort to wipe them away . I looked up and saw "me" .
The "me " who stood there on the staircase gawking at the door , the " me " who said nothing to lilly when she left , the " me " who could've stopped lilly from going , who could have saved her , the " me" who , at that day , just uttered one word and went back to sleep ....... I knew what was gonna come next , I closed my eyes and waited for it
" Idiot" the me on the staircase muttered and went back in the room to sleep
I sobbed
" You could've easily saved me you know , but you were the evil twin always weren't you " I looked around to see lilly standing on the entrance . Her throat was cut ,blood now soaking her black blouse . Her mascara was smudged , like she had cried a lot , making her look even more scary .
I gasped
She slowly came toward me , her lips stretching to give me a very creepy smirk .
" I .... I didn't know lilly , I seriously didn't know that ....that this is gonna happen ...please lilly I ... I loved .." I stammered , she was coming close to me and I was stumbling back tripping over my own foot
" Oh of course you did " she scoffed ,
" But don't worry now lizza , we will meet soon , your his next target " she smirked . This was wrong ,lilly was not like this .....
" Nooooooooooo" I screamed , and sat up in my bed , I was sweating heavily , my brown locks sticking to my face . I was clenching the bed sheets around me in my hands , I was breathing heavily .
Suddenly a hand crept up on my right shoulder , I shiver went through me and I pushed back from the hand .
" Relax liza ,it's me liza your mom , it's just me " I look towards my mom she was holding her hands up in surrender
I didn't realise when she came in my room , her black hair were pulled back in a messy bun , her eyes looking at me pleadingly.
I relaxed a bit and went close to her . She put my head in her lap .
" Same nightmare ?" She asked in a worried tone her fingers going through my hair .
I nodded
" Lizzaaaaaa" she said my name pleadingly , I looked up to her .
" Liza , you know I loved lilly , but I still can't see you like this darling , please for once listen to me , Jane is getting a psychologist today . It's of course no fault of yours ....."
" I am not mad " it was supposed to come out like a firm statement but I almost said it pleadingly
" Of course sweety " she cupped my face in her hands ,
" You are not mad , it's just that these nightmares are scaring us all " she said
I looked at her blankly
" I...I've lost one daughter , I don't want to loose you too liza , please " she sighed
" I ll never leave you mom , " I sighed " okay I'll meet the doctor " I said
Mom smiled half heartily
" I love you lizz " she said and kissed my forehead .
" Me too mom " I said .
" I just want things right , I want to make you realize that we know it's not your fault , please stop holding yourself guilty for something which is not your fault ." She said ,
A pit grew in my stomach I could almost feel the bile rising in my throat , everybody thought that I was asleep when lilly went . According to them I didn't know she left . If I told them that I let her go they would hate me forever , just like I hated myself .
" Of course mom " I said staring at her eyes .
